Kenneth

I pray that the God of heaven and earth send his Holy Spirit to comfort and strengthen you and your family at this time.  Your mom has truly been a blessed soldier for The Lord and He has called her to rest.  May God give you peace knowing she is at rest.

"For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ: which is far better:.........to abide in the flesh is more needful for you."  Philippians 1:23-24

Love to you and your Family

Kathaleen

Kenneth,

I join with the Warrior Nation to express my condolences to you and your family.  I know what it is to lose Mama...it is a void that nothing can truly fill.  But, you can take comfort in the fact that you gave her 'roses' while she lived here on earth.  Now, when you pass a mirror, smile, because she now resides in your heart and mind and there she will be forever.

May GOD continue to bless you and your family!  May you continue to bless us with your diplomatic spirit and willingness to share your insights and wisdom!

We love you, my brother Warrior!

Mickey

To My Beloved "Warrior Nation of 1970"

"I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again. " ~ William Penn

Such was the lesson of life taught by my Mom, to her children. In her honor, I've attempted to portray that life, although sometimes unsuccessfully. I am sending a "Smoke Signal" to the nation to inform everyone that services have now been finalized.

As noted in the Commercial Appeal, the family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday, November 8, at M. J. Edwards Funeral Home, 1165 Airways Blvd. Funeral services, 12 noon Saturday, November 9, at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, 555 Vance Ave at Lauderdale.

I especially thank Alice, Audrey, Delores, Fred H., Helen, Jackie, James M., Jerry, John T, Kathaleen, Larry, Marsha, Melvin T, Mickey, Patricia, Robert and Susie for your statements of LOVE & FAITH toward me and my family. Thank you for the prayers expressed also.

I thank the entire Warrior Nation for thoughts and expressions, yet to be extended.

I hope to see you all in the near future. In the words of a dear friend "Love You Love You!" and there's nothing you can do about it.

" EXTENDING MUCH LOVE TO THE WARRIOR NATION "

"Each one of us can be an oasis of peace" ~Desmund Tutu

The good minister, Bishop Desmond Tutu has always strived to promote peace,  love, pride and education to all who believed. I cherish the words of his quote mentioned above. We can all be an oasis of peace to each other. For this reason, once again, on behalf of the Davis Family and relatives, I wish to extend a gratuitous " Thank You " to Gwen Davis White, Robert Phifer, Audrey Walls, Jerry & Donna Hosey, Patricia Watson, Herbert Sanders, Moten family members, Danny Dickson, Rosie O'Neal, William & Cindy Arnold, John Thomas and everyone else who attended the services for my mom. Thank you also to Gerald & Carolyn Harris, for your thoughtfulness. You all may be in Japan, but you both exemplify an oasis of peace to my family. Mt. Nebo loves you both. If I've missed anyone, in the words of Janis Fullilove, "charge it to my head and not my heart!"  I may not have seen all of you individually, because the building was "FULL". I do cherish all of the prayers and expressed words of sympathy expressed by "Each of you who are, were and will continue to be an oasis of Peace" during and after this time of bereavement. Thanks again everyone, I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the near future !

"Experiance the richness"

You put a lot of energy and effort into living. So on a regular basis, take time to fully experiance your life and the world in which you live. Spend time that has no purpose other than to take in all the richness of which you're a part. Let go, for a while, of the need to analyze, criticize, to judge and react. Allow your thoughts to be still.

Fell the wonder, the goodness, the beauty of  simply being and knowing that you are. Experiance life, not in order to gain any advantage or to impress someone. Experiance life because the depth of it's richness has no limit. The more fully you experiance and appreciate life, the more you'll find yourself needing less and having more. Experiance life, and you'll clearly see how truely rich you already are.

Life is a gift so precious that it has no equal. Experiance life, and give that gift to yourself and others. ~ Ralph Marston

The month of November has truely been an experiance of life and its richness! Wishing a Belated Happy Birthday to Thurmond, Cloyd, Norma and Carolyn P.   Loretta, tomorrow is your day. Happy Birthday to you too!! I personally thank you for your professional position. I thank you for the blessings that you bring to all of the women in Nashville and it's surrounding communities. I will make my annual Combined Federal Campaign pledge to the Susan G Komen foundation in Memphis, to honor of all that you do and on behalf of our relatives and friends in the city of Memphis. I know that the funds remain local.  Looking forward to seeing you all in the near future.

I would like to wish a belated Happy Birthday to all my classmates that celebrated a birthday in October and November. I hope that all  of you had a wonderful time.  It seems that each year we lose one of our classmates.  I hope that we can come together as one alumni this year and celebrate the holiday season together.  For those classmates in town, please come out and join us on December 14th for our alumni holiday party.  You can bring your friends, family, anyone you choose to celebrate with.  We would love to fellowship with all of you.

Take care and stay safe.

A  "Happy Birthday" wish to Robert !

" It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.   ~ Nelson Mandela~

As your website appointed "Secretary of State" (thanks to Eugene), I'd like to extend a belated "Happy Birthday" wish to you. You've reached another temporary milestone in life and I welcome you to "Club 61" where "mercy and grace" is truely appreciated. We've been waiting all year for you to access your membership. I wish you continued success while celebrating life in the days ahead !

BTW Class of 1970 Activity Committee,

I would like to take the opportunity to commend your efforts for the Angel Tree Project for Seniors.  What an excellent idea...we give back to the youth so much...but, seniors are like children too.

In my opinion, this is such a worthy cause and I wish to extend my support in any way that I can.  Please reach out to me and let me know how I can help.  I will send Marsha a monetary donation to the address provided in the previous email but I am also willing to help in other ways as needed.

My personal story is that I have assumed the temporary responsibility for my ex-mother-in-law, Ms. Shirley Conner.  (Smile...did you catch that ex!)  Ms. Shirley is the mother of both Tommy and Aster (Barnie) Conner, both of whom were in our class and both of whom have passed.  Ms. Shirley has survived all of her children...imagine... so we do not know who in life GOD will direct us to take care of.

Seniors are so happy with the smallest of attention and care shown to them.  I encourage all of our classmates to reach down into your wallets and help this worthy cause.  I am sending $20.00...will you match it or beat it!

I see that you read the quote from Nelson Mandela and decided to show some leadership. I except your challenge and raise you five. Maybe other class members will except the challenge and raise my offer. Marsha, I'll call you later. Thanks Mickey for your gentle spirit and dedication.

Kathaleen Daugherty (Marion)

Ok classmates.  This is a very commendable service for senior citizens.  My funds are still not where I will be able to participate, but I am willing to help in anyway you may need me.

This Saturday, I am chairing a Christmas Party for the senior citizens who live in the hi rise for senior citizens that is owned by my church.  I have spent and donated more than I expected, but I feel it will be worth it if they will have a nice time.  There are about 50 residents, and  I pray that things will go well.

I will continue to pray and do as much as I can to help my classmates with all we decide to do, but right now I will not be able to do a lot financially.  It will get better soon.

Please feel free to let me know if there is something I can do.

Happy Birthday to all I missed this month, and may God Bless You All!!!!
