Kathaleen Daugherty (Marion)

Ok classmates.  This is a very commendable service for senior citizens.  My funds are still not where I will be able to participate, but I am willing to help in anyway you may need me.

This Saturday, I am chairing a Christmas Party for the senior citizens who live in the hi rise for senior citizens that is owned by my church.  I have spent and donated more than I expected, but I feel it will be worth it if they will have a nice time.  There are about 50 residents, and  I pray that things will go well.

I will continue to pray and do as much as I can to help my classmates with all we decide to do, but right now I will not be able to do a lot financially.  It will get better soon.

Please feel free to let me know if there is something I can do.

Happy Birthday to all I missed this month, and may God Bless You All!!!!

Good evening fellow classmates, I recieved some smoke signals indicating that somefhing good was happening on the site! I love it when we work for the good of those who maybe somewhat challenged at this time and season of the year. It is written that it is more blessed to give than to recieve. With this in mind, as your President I would like to up the ante to $50.00. If I may, I would like to also remind everyone of this weeks scheduled meeting at 5:00.  This would be an opportune time to bring your donations and suggestions to carry out this, The Angel Tree  Project. Happy holidays!!!

Good Morning Warrior Nation!

I fully agree with Robert...there is indeed something good happening on our site!  Thank GOD!  I think that we have found a common good that we can all get behind whether it is with monetary contributions or the willingness to serve!  As we know, both are required to fully experience the charity of helping others.

Robert mentioned a upcoming class meeting this Sunday at 5p...this is an excellent opportunity fo us to get together and 'flesh out' the details necessary to pull this event successfully across the Warrior Nation's finish line.  I think Audrey Johnson, our Activity Chairperson for this event, will really appreciate our making this event a success.  Consider, success is directly attributable to what we can do collectively.  We are one body and when we come together there is absoluetely, positively, nothing that we can not accomplish!  (I think I have been with FedEx too long...absolutely, positively...really...really!)

I do not know the exact meeting location but I am sure that someone will respond and tell us the meeting place specifics.   I commit to attend and to throw my support into the effort.  I now ask that you commit to attend as well.

Mickey

"You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them." ~Bishop Desmond Tutu

Hello Family! I can recall Mrs. Nichols at one of our class reunions saying that "We are members of a proud Warrior Nation". The communications and dedications expressed on this forum recently, makes me extremely proud to be a member of the Class of 1970. This Angel Tree Project will definately be a tremendous success! We have yet to hear from other family members, who I'm sure will also except the challenge. Robert you've raised the ante once again and I'll equal your challenge. I will donate an additional $25 on behalf of Kathleen. Her dedication to the Senior Citizens housed in the apartment building makes her an "ANGEL". Let us use her example of service as encouragement and continued dedication to family.

David Stinette, today is your birthday and I'd like to extend to you a "Happy Birthday" Enjoy this day and have a wonderful celebration of life in the days to come. I look forward to seeing you in the near future.

I would like to thank all of my classmates for your support for the Angel Project to benefit our senior citizens. However you choose to show your support, the activity committee is most grateful.  I chose two Salvation Army Senior Angels from the tree at Oak Court Mall.  We currently have six seniors on our list, but the two selected from the mall tree have to be finalized by Monday, Dec. 15th.  Because the Salvation Army Angels have to be finalized as soon as possible, I am listing these items now so that if anyone coming to the meeting on Sunday would like to bring one or more of these items they can do so.  The seniors are two females, both age 78.

1.  Shoe sizes-7.5 and 8.5                         6.  Shirt size-XL and 22

2.  Dress sizes-18 and 22                          7.  2 Queen size bed sets

(this can be a comforter or sheet set)

3.  Sweater size-XL and 22                        8.  Bathroom and kitchen towels

4.  Pant size-XL and 22                             9.  Two bed pillows

5.  Coat size-XL and 22                            10.  House slippers-size 8.5

                              11.  Pots and pans-1 set

If anyone will be donating any of these items at the meeting on Sunday, please post it on the message forum, so that we will not duplicate any of the items.  Any items or monetary donations will be appreciated

Thank you,

Audrey Johnson, Activity Committee Chairman

Verification Required !

I just spoke with a friend that worked with Quince Dodson Jr at the VA Hospital. Word is that he has passed. The CA has it listed as 13 Dec with the body at RS Lewis. I called and was told that they were not providing services. I called Edwards on Airways  and Ford on Parkway. Would a member of the Benovolance Committee or a classmate please check this out?

Thanks Patricia for letting us know this has been taken care of. I did not realize until last night that Quincy Dotson was my church members brother. I was with some of the family and they were talking about our class being represented with a card and resolution. Way to go BTW Class of 1970!

" Belated Happy Birthday to Mickey and Ann Ivy"

You were born the same day as  Cab Calloway. Cab as you know  was a well renowned preformer at "The Cotton Club" in New York City. Although Ann was a quiet classmate and wasn't a member of the Pep Squad, like you Mickey, she supported our class with the mighty power of all WARRIORS, in the Class of 1970. Cab stated " My audience was my life. How I did it was all for my audience". We were your audience then, as we are now. You both have maintained an audience throughout our lifetime. I will continue to look to you both for the LOVE, HAPPINESS and the Celebration of LIFE that we experienced back in the day as we prepare for the upcoming class reunion. I hope that your day was a day of joy and celebration! Continue to enlighten your audience and I look forward to seeing you both in the near future.

"Happy Birthday Iretha"

The late Shirley Chisholm once stated "Service is the rent that you pay for room on this earth". Recently you made it known that you would be providing time and attention to incarcerated individuals at the prison in Henning and wouldn't be able to attend the Class Celebration scheduled on that same day. You may have easily attended to a nephew of mine, even relatives of our classmates, except for the fact that my nephew was transfered closer to Memphis. Deciding to devote your time and attention to this group of individuals is HIGHLY commendable and in my own personal opinion, you have paid your rent in full. As you celebrate your birthday this day, enjoy the services that you shall receive, accordingly! I look forward to the services that you will provide along with our other classmates to make our future reunion a success. Take care and I look forward to seeing you in the near future.
