"EARLY BIRTHDAY GREETINGS"

TO

AUDREY JOHNSON

Life is short, and if we enjoy every moment of every day, then we will be happy no matter what happens or what changes along the way.  ~ Gretchen Bleiler ~

Happy Birthday Susie! You've arrived at a most cherished milestone among your classmates. As you celebrate this date with your friends and family, may you "Be happy, no matter what happens or what changes along the way"! Although you're semi-retired, the attention that you've given to others as a Cosmetic Sales Representative has surely brought added beauty to the faces and lives of many. May you enjoy being the recipient of every happy moment that you've given others, during this lifetime. Victoria Justice stated that "It's nice to just embrace the natural beauty within you", but you've educated others on how to enhance their exterior appearance as well. Life is indeed short, so basically, you've been giving individuals "Pieces of a Dream". At the end of your day from celebrations, may you have a night of "Pieceful Dreams"......

"EARLY BIRTHDAY GREETINGS " TO ROSE O'NEAL BOYD

The major value in life is not what you get. The major value in life is what you become.

~ Jim Rohn ~

Happy Birthday Rose! May your day of celebration represent another great milestone with major value, in your life. I specifically choose the pink orchid flower and the pink ribbon for their expressed moral support value in life, for women with breast cancer and for survivors like yourself. Orchids, with their exotic appearance, have a long history of being associated with love, fertility and elegance throughout various cultures and time periods. Pink ribbons symbolize faith and innocence as well as breast cancer awareness. Because you are more than a survivor, may your family and friends shower you with all the "Love, Elegance and Reverence" you so righteously deserve on you birthday. Cal Harris Jr wrote a song which defines our lives over various time periods. My wish is for you to have a venerable "Timeline" celebration as you reflect upon the major value in life, that you've become to everyone.......

The simple act of saying 'thank you' is a demonstration of gratitude in response to an experience that was meaningful to a customer or citizen.

~ Simon Mainwaring ~

Welcome Paul, to the website. I say "thank you" on behalf of your classmates as one who's often wondered about how you're doing. Now that you're a customer and citizen of our website, I urge you to read the posts and try not to laugh at some of the wild things we've said in the past. Families talk crazy to each other occasionally. As one of the website administrators, reach out to Cherlyn H., Larry M., or myself should you have any questions. Please use this forum to reachout to your classmates also. I included a copy of your senior head for your use, as desired. Awesome and blessed to know that you remain among us....see if you can get your sister to join us tooangel....While you're reading over the many message forum posts, relax with Issac Hayes as you take a ride along "The 405".....

Life on earth is more like a verb. It repairs, maintains, re-creates, and outdoes itself. ~ Lynn Margulis ~

Ladies and Gentlemen, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. We should join in on the cause to help women and men in need today. Gentlemen, don't be alarmed, Matthew Knowles, father and former manager of Beyonce and Solange, revealed that he was recently diagnosed with breast cancer in an interview with Michael Strahan on ABC's "Good Morning America" that aired today.

While breast cancer is more commonly associated with women, Knowles said he wanted to urge men, especially black men, who are susceptible to the disease, to be more aware and get tested. All people, whether male or female, are born with some breast cells and tissue. Even though males do not develop milk-producing breasts, a man's breast cells and tissue can still develop cancer. Male breast cancer is very rare. Less than one percent of all breast cancer cases develop in men, and only one in a thousand men will ever be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Men with a genetic predisposition to breast cancer are also at a higher risk of getting prostate cancer at a younger age than usually diagnosed. Breast cancer in men is usually dectected as a hard lump underneath the nipple and areola. Men carry a higher mortality than women do, primarily because awareness among men is less and they are less likely to assume a lump is breast cancer, which can cause a delay in seeking treatment.

The statistics on breast cancer are grim. An estimated 268,600 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year, and the illness will kill 41,760 women, according to the Susan G. Komen organization. The National Breast Cancer Foundation reports that a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes. Innovations in research, surgical options and clinical trials give women many more options. With early detection, a woman's survival rate goes up.

Coloring this month pink helps various organizations raise money for research and improved treatment that will help decrease mortality from the illness. All of us can consider donating to an organization or project that helps fight breast cancer, whether it involves research, purchasing new equipment or making detection accessible to those with limited resources.

Think pink in October...

Think prevention...Think early detection...

"EARLY BIRTHDAY GREETINGS "

TO

EUGENE GRAYER

Many people dream about being an entrepreneur, starting their own business, working for themselves, and living the good life. Very few, however, will actually take the plunge and put everything they've got into being their own boss.

~ Fabrizio Moreira ~

Happy Birthday Eugene ! Fabrizio is an Ecuadorian politician and businessman. He currently resides in the US as a political dissident against the government in Ecuador. You've often accused me of being the "Secretary of State" for this website and our class. I will accept that honor today and wish you  the "Good Life" as you celebrate your birthday. As you celebrate your birthday, may each member of your family and friends alike, realize that you've put everything you've got into being your own boss, so that they might share with you, the "Good Life". Thank you for being a dissident and sometimes politician to the "Class of 1970".  An entrepreneur must "Feel The Heat" according to Nick Colionne...."Feel The Connection" as you celebrate my friend...!

Warning Signs of Metastatic Breast Cancer

Sheila M. Eldred Health Writer July 9, 2019  Medically Reviewed By Michael Hunter, M.D.

While you don’t always get a warning sign that your breast cancer has spread, it’s helpful to be aware of the symptoms. In some instances, early detection can prevent worse side effects. Also, consider metastic breast cancer risk factors, which differ in some ways from risk factors for breast cancer of an earlier stage. The most common areas to which breast cancer metastasizes are the bones, the lungs, the liver, and the brain. Here’s a look at the symptoms associated with each.

Risks of Metastasis in the Bones

Over half of stage 4 breast cancer patients experience bone metastasis, according to breastcancer.org. Usually the first place breast cancer spreads, bones most commonly affected include the ribs, spine, pelvis, and arm and leg bones. If you suspect cancer has spread to a bone, it’s important to get it checked out quickly, as you may be able to prevent fractures with prompt treatment.

Signs of Metastasis in the Bones

Take note of sudden new pain, especially pain that doesn’t go away with rest or lying down. Other symptoms include: inability to move (could indicate a fracture) numbness or weakness in any area, constipation

Decreased alertness, fatigue, weakness, nausea, loss of appetite, and dehydration can be signs that calcium has risen in the blood because of bone breakdown.

Metastasis in the Liver May Not Cause Symptoms

You may not be the first to notice if breast cancer spreads to the liver; frequently, there aren’t any signs, according to breastcancer.org.  A liver function test can detect abnormal levels of enzymes and proteins in the blood, which may suggest cancer has spread to the liver.

Signs of Metastasis in the Liver

When metastasis in the liver does cause symptoms, they can include: Abdominal pain or discomfort; nausea , extreme fatigue; weakness, weight loss; lack of appetite, fever, bloating, swelling in the legs, feet and hands, yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes, itchy skin or rash.

Metastasis in the Lungs May Not Cause Symptoms

As in the liver, breast cancer doesn’t always cause symptoms when it moves into the lungs. Imaging tests, such as a chest scans, may find tumors in the lungs before you notice any symptoms.

Signs of Metastasis in the Lungs

When it does cause symptoms, the signs can be hard to differentiate from a common cold. If problems persist for more than a week or two, get them checked out, breastcancer.org suggests. Symptoms may include: pain or discomfort in the lungs or chest, difficulty breathing; wheezing, persistent cough, coughing up blood or mucus

Risks of Metastasis in the Brain

The brain isn’t usually the first place that breast cancer spreads, but about 10 to 15 percent of stage IV breast cancer patients are diagnosed with brain metastases, according to breastcancer.org. Some of these patients only experience metastasis in the brain. Patients with certain subtypes of breast cancer, including HER2-positive and triple-negative, are at higher risk of metastasis to the brain.

Signs of Metastasis in the Brain

Symptoms can range from physical to psychological ones, and may include: headache that progressively gets worse and head pressure, blurred or double vision, seizures, vomiting or nausea, difficulty with speech, including slurred speech, changes in behavior, mood or personality

Diagnosing Metastatic Breast Cancer

If you do have any of the above signs and symptoms, various tests can help diagnose metastatic breast cancer, including: blood tests, whole-body bone scan, MRI of the spine or brain, CT scan of the chest, abdomen, pelvis, and/or brain, PET scan, X-ray or ultrasound of the abdomen or chest, Bronchoscopy, biopsy, A "tap," or fluid removal, from the spinal cord or area between the lung and chest wall

" HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALICE HOLMAN NESBITT "

Now, what really makes a teacher is love for the human child; for it is love that transforms the social duty of the educator into the higher consciousness of a mission.  ~ Maria Montessori ~

Happy Birthday Alice ! As an Educator, you're totally familiar with Montessori Schools. Maria loved her students, and we were loved by our teachers at BTW. Your love for knowledge helped to transform your consciousness to complete their mission. Like Maria, you've placed great emphasis and importance on the education of children, as the best hope for attaining a peaceful and sustainable society. While you're celebrating today, may your family and friends shower you with love, bouquets, gifts of gratitude and testimonies reflective of that same love you've given to your students. I wish you a "Merlon Devine" kind of day for your celebration...you chose "The Platform" best suited for your talents...here's a blast from the past to reflect upon...where are these folks "Now"....

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY JERRY HOSEY"

True friendship multiplies the good in life and divides its evils. Strive to have friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island... to find one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune; to keep him is a blessing.

~ Baltasar Gracian ~

Happy Birthday "Mean Green" ! Baltasar was a Jesuit priest and philosopher, so he assuredly knew about the good and the evils in life. Our friendship has spanned both divides and like others I've been blessed to have you as my friend. Whether in Glenview, Cherokee or Greenwhich Square, we shared the good fortune of being lifetime friends. So as you celebrate today with your family and friends, consider that you've never been on that desert island Baltasar mentions. It is hoped that good fortune will be showered upon you today and others will continuously reflect the blessings of friendship. We've gone through some tumultuos events during this lifetime, as referenced in both images above. After your celebrations, have a "Darryl Williams" end of the day....relax and enjoy the "Reflections".....of the good in life.....

" EARLY BIRTHDAY GREETINGS "

TO

WENDOLYN WOOTEN PETTIES

We learned about gratitude and humility - that so many people had a hand in our success, from the teachers who inspired us to the janitors who kept our school clean... and we were taught to value everyone's contribution and treat everyone with respect.

 ~ Michelle Obama ~

Happy Birthday Wendolyn ! After reading that you retired from the MCS after 37 years teaching English at various grade levels, I sure hope that I spelled your name correctly this time....Michelle Obama said it all; gratitude and humility learned from the teachers and janitors at BTW inspired us tremendously. Thank you for your service and tenure to the MCS. Having achieved the milestones of retirement and this fantastic birthday, you deserve the respect and congratulations from both family and friends. May you be showered during your celebration with analogous gifts and blessings that you've also bestowed upon your family, friends and former students. After your celebration is complete, relax and have a "Ted Talks with Taylor Mali" kind of evening...it's poetry for your reflection upon the nesessity of teachers and to also answer the question concerning "What Do Teachers Make"....

Former NFL running back DeAngelo Williams is still dedicated to fighting breast cancer. Williams, who played for the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers, started covering the cost of mammogram screening for women in 2015 through his nonprofit organization, The DeAngelo Williams Foundation. Since then, the foundation has covered the cost of over 500 mammograms at hospitals in Pittsburgh, Memphis, Jonesboro, Ark., and Charlotte, N.C.

Williams is a staunch supporter of breast cancer awareness. In 2014, his mother Sandra Hill died from breast cancer when she was just 53. Williams also lost his four aunts to the disease, all before the age of 50. Williams began sponsoring the free mammogram screening in honor of his mother through the "53 Strong for Sandra" program. At each event, the foundation sponsors mammograms for 53 women. The foundation eventually hopes to host a free mammogram screening event in every state.

"To be able to help all these women is amazing. This can be life-changing for these women," Williams said in a statement to TODAY. "We are enabling them to get this care that no one should ever be denied or not have access to."

Retirement's the most wonderful thing. I get to enjoy all the things I never stopped to notice on the way up. After an extraordinary life, it's time to enjoy my retirement. ~ Patrick Macnee ~

Happy Birthday Delores ! May you, your family and friends have a fantastic celebration. Having reached two milestones within one year is an awe-inspiring achievement. I'm not sure when you retired, but I agree with Patrick. After an extraordinary life, it is indeed time to enjoy retirement and life with your grandkids. I retired a second time this past January and it is a wonderful thing! When you finish opening up those gifts of love, gratitude and favour, pull up a recliner and rest for a moment. Now you can peacefully receive your "spiritual blessings", and have a Robin Bramlett, "This is my life" kind of moment...the quality of life that you'll enjoy with your retirement will glow upon the horizon as "Sunny Skies" headed your way....enjoy all things....

People can hate on you for doing what it is that makes you happy, but ultimately, it has to belong to you. It shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. Life is not easy. The road to happiness is not a path well trotted. You have to find your own path to enlightenment.

If you look at any successful professional - a salesperson, a marketer, a real estate agent, a trader - they all have the same qualities as the con man. The only difference is that one side uses their talents in the right direction and the con man is taking the easy way out.  ~ Frank Abagnale ~

Happy Birthday Beverly ! As a Real Estate Broker & Educator amongst your  classmates born this month, none of you share the same qualities of a con man. Frank didn't include teachers within his quote, however each of you have used your talents to become a successful professional. As Eric, other family members and friends celebrate this joyous occasion with you, I wish you a phenomenal milestone event. May the gifts that you receive reflect the numerous blessings that you've bestowed upon others. For a healthier heart, be more forgiving !

When people are reminded of grudges, their heart rate and blood pressure can increase. Forgiveness, on the other hand, has been linked to better heart health. Plus, you’ll sleep better when you let bygones be just that. But keep in mind you can’t fake it: Researchers believe that the health benefits associated directly with forgiving apply only to emotional, not decisional, forgiveness. On the other hand, excessive anger and these signs could mean you're headed for a heart attack..........

Were you successful in solving the puzzle within the timeframe suggested???? If not and you're still wondering, here's the showerhead answer.....
