I knew Gene very well at school and church. Our Mothers were best friends. Gene and his first wife, Judith Drinkard of our class had three children. Their elder daughter required a kidney transplant, which Gene donated, when she was very young. Gene was a pharmicist in Memphis until he retired. He was very happily married to Scarlett until losing her to Cancer. He died about three years ago, leaving a son Jeff and daughter Beth and three grandchildren.
Gene was a very close friend of mine. He got me my first job at Crook Hudson drug store. I ran into he and Judith at a football game at MUS when I was covering the game for WREG TV. He was a kind and gentle man and I am sorry I didn't keep in touch. God bless him and may he rest in peace,
