I remember so very well my friend Nelson living in the Berclair community. We went to Berclair Elem together and on to White Station. We played football at the Berclair park and I definitely requestedto be on his side. What stands out the most was a varsity football game when out player had broken loose down the right side and was almost caught by opposing player. Coming clear across the opposite field in full speed, Nelson flew at the tackler's feet freeing our running back to score. From that point on, Nelson's football career was in the books.

I will always remember him for his kindness and friendship. God bless his family.

Some of Nelson's fondest memories were of all his friends at White Station. He was always telling his children and grandchildren about something funny that happened with Donnie Dyer or Max Ostrow or another of his buddies.

One of his friends turned out to be the very surgeon we needed when our now 17 yr. old grandson was born with a significant cleft lip and palate. Bob Siebert performed 3 amazing repairs before Caleb was a year old and now he's a 6'2" high school junior with a handsome smile! He is now the same age his Grandad was when we got married!

Nelson would have loved to be at his 50th High School reunion and renew old friendships.

Nelson was probably the strongest guy in our school and was the toughest lineman to block in one on one drills in football practice. I can remember being defeated by him more times than winning in our one on one battles. Max Ostrow, Pat Steele, Johnny Delius, and many others would confirm this.
