HOUSTON, Texas - Leslie Caroline Austin-Flores, 30, died Sept. 2, 2002, in Houston.

Born Jan. 3, 1972, daughter of Carolyn Bowers and Jim Austin of Houston, she was raised in Memphis, Tenn., where she graduated from White Station High School. As a child, she was a champion swimmer and an honor student. She graduated cum laude with a bachelors degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Flores began her career as a teacher and inspired many young children who adored her. She worked as a fashion model, excelled in tennis and running and was also a talented jewelry designer.

Her husband, Allen Flores, survives of Houston.

Survivors in addition to her husband and parents include: two children, Brooke and Cole, whom she loved dearly and to whom she devoted her life; her stepmother, Kathi Austin of Houston; her stepfather, Rob Bowers of Houston; and her maternal grandparents, Bill and Vera Gage of Charleston, Mo.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Houston.

Earthman-Hunters Creek Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of arrangements.
