50 Year Event for STA Classes of '71
THE START: With what is the appetizer for the 3 days of events — now called The MEME — an evening of fellowship at Lucky's 13 Pub in old Mendota on Wednesday Sept. 22nd began at 5 PM, with families of the '70 and '71 classes welcome. In Lucky13s back private room, meals and refreshments were on your own bill. If you ate the available hors d'ourves, you owe a gratitude to one member of the Class of '70. With the walk-ins from the Class of '71 as well as maybe half our numbers from the Class of '70, there were more than 85 people present throughout the night. After 6 o'clock parking was so scarce...well, one guy is said to still be looking for a spot to park. Offical closing time was 10:00 PM. If you know classmates, who did not make it home, contact Lucky's 13 so badly in need of new employees. Call them, email them, USPO mail them, or just wake them with this information. www.facebook.com/Luckys13MendotaHeights
THE START: when it is now over, you thought.. But somethings never end. OH WHAT A NIGHT!
"One of the strange things about teaching is that you can never know what your effect will be on others; can never know, if you have something to teach, who your real students will be. The ones who will take what you have to give and make it their own — the 'what you have to give' being, in no small part, what you yourself learned from some other teacher, someone who wondered whether you would absorb what he had to give, someone who is, by the time you are old enough to write about the experience, as old as your parents, or perhaps even dead — can never really know which of the young people clustered around the seminar table is someone whom the teacher or the text has touched so deeply, for whatever reason, that the text will live beyond the classroom, beyond you." — from An Odyssey: A Father, a Son, and an Epic, by Daniel Mendelsohn

"Don't Even Try It"
Till this day,
No alumni ever
Even in the years after my death,
Slept in my classroom.
Save it for Father White,
You boneheads. --Fred Gatto, on comebackers
