An average day in my life goes something like this:
The alarm goes off at 8am. I don't hear it, but Justin does. I wake up when he kisses me, flips on the light switch and turns on my morning music play list. He disappears into the kitchen, and I hide under my blanket for fifteen minutes until my husband of the year comes back with breakfast-- usually waffles or oatmeal. I consume my vittles and crawl out of bed to get ready for work.
Just before 9:00, we leave our apartment and walk to the train station. I'm pleased on the rare occasion we score seats, and Justin provides us with reading materials which is usually a National Geographic for me and some political magazine for himself. The train arrives about fifteen minutes later to our 33rd Street and 6th Ave stop in New York City. We hug, kiss and part ways on the platform. The train station janitor observes our daily parting routine: I always look back to watch him walk away, and he always waves just before he disappears up the stairs.
I exit the station and battle my way through a busy street corner to get to my office building. I ride the elevator up to the 26th floor and settle in at my desk which, lucky for me, is located right next to a window that frames the most amazing view of Midtown Manhattan. The next eight hours has me sketching handbags, jewelry or some sort of fashion accessory and thumbing through celebrity/fashion mags for inspiration. I love it when they send me to LA for shopping trips or to concert festivals to do trend research. This would be where I mention that I'm completely in love with my job.
Evening rolls around, and I once again meet up with my most favorite man in the world. We go back and forth about what we'll have for dinner, which is usually limited to the few vegetarian restaurants we frequent. I've been vegetarian for four years now and Justin has been vegan for sixteen. On the train, we discuss the day's events or the dvds we'd like to watch when we get home.
We usually decide on an episode of whatever sitcom we haven't kept up with be it Lost or Battlestar Galactica (don't hate). We have our dinner, and then cuddle up on the couch for most of the evening. Sometimes he gets on the computer while I make jewelry or play my guitar. I get a piggy back to the bathroom where we brush our teeth and make funny faces at each other in the mirror while our electronic toothbrushes do most of the work. We go to bed, hit the lights and repeat this in some variation the next day.
I love my life.
