In Memory

LeAnn Rowsell (Ostler)

LeAnn Rowsell (Ostler)

LeAnn Michelle Ostler

LeAnn Ostler was one of those special people who made life brighter just by being herself. She was warm, kind, hilarious, generous, a little sassy, and never afraid to speak her mind. She had a way of making people feel comfortable wherever she went, and she could make a friend with anyone—even a complete stranger in the grocery store. LeAnn loved people, and she had a gift for making people feel loved right back.

LeAnn was born on July 13, 1958 to DeAnn Ella Bruce and Jesse Blaine Rowsell in Salt Lake City, Utah. She built a life filled with the things that mattered most to her: family, friendships, laughter, her home, her garden, animals, and making memories with the people she loved.

On September 21, 1983, LeAnn married the love of her life, Boyd S. Ostler. Boyd’s niece had set them up on a blind date, and what began with that date became a lifetime together. LeAnn and Boyd were the perfect yin and yang. They balanced each other, complemented each other, and shared a love that was at the center of LeAnn’s life. Boyd truly was her person and the love of her life.

LeAnn worked for 28 years at Fairchild Semiconductor, where she formed wonderful friendships and meaningful relationships. Those friendships didn't end when her time at Fairchild did. She continued to stay in touch with some of her former coworkers for years afterward. That was simply LeAnn—when she cared about someone, she cared deeply, and friendships were never just temporary chapters in her life.

But above everything else, LeAnn was a family woman.

She loved her daughters, Nicole Marie Harshman and Rachael Ann Ostler, with her whole heart. And then came her grandchildren, who quickly became the center of her world.

Her grandchildren were LeAnn’s greatest joy. She was their biggest cheerleader, their fun grandma, their sleepover grandma, and the grandma who spoiled them rotten—with love. She supported them in everything they did and celebrated every little accomplishment as though it were the biggest thing in the world. She wanted to be part of their lives, hear their stories, laugh with them, play with them, and make memories they would carry forever.

Her grandchildren—Kaley McCurdy, Kaden Ostler, Oaklee Ostler, and McKayzli McCormick—gave LeAnn so much happiness. They gave her life, and she gave them a love that was unconditional, enthusiastic, and unmistakably Grandma LeAnn. Some of the sweetest memories of LeAnn are the simplest ones. She loved spending time with her family, playing games, laughing, and making something ordinary into something they would remember forever. Even during her final days, she was doing exactly what made her happiest—being with her family and making memories with her grandchildren.

While enjoying time together in the mountains, LeAnn played games with her grandkids and gathered around the campfire to make waffle-cone s’mores. In true LeAnn fashion, she had even sent her grandson Kaden the recipe before the camping trip. It was so perfectly her: thinking ahead, making things fun, and finding another little way to take care of the people she loved. LeAnn passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2026, while spending time with her family in the beauty of the mountains. There is something incredibly fitting about her being surrounded by the people she loved most, making memories and enjoying the happiness of being together.

LeAnn also found so much joy in her home. She loved gardening and took tremendous pride in her beautiful yard. She poured time, care, and love into making it something special, and it became a reflection of her—colorful, welcoming, full of life, and cared for with her whole heart.

She had a soft spot for birds and all animals. Her beloved dogs, Maddie and Wicket, who have both passed on, were cherished members of her family. LeAnn had a way of loving animals with the same tenderness and devotion she gave to the people around her.

And then there was Christmas. Christmas was everything at LeAnn’s house. She loved making the season special, and her decorations were always on point. Her home became a place of warmth, celebration, laughter, and memories. She loved creating that feeling of Christmas magic for the people she loved, and her family will always remember the joy and care she put into making her home beautiful. LeAnn leaves behind her beloved husband, Boyd S. Ostler; her daughters, Nicole Marie Harshman and Rachael Ann Ostler; and her grandchildren, Kaley McCurdy, Kaden Ostler, Oaklee Ostler, and McKayzli McCormick. She is also survived by her sisters Cindy Benson and Valerie Wiechman and her brother’s wife, Kori Rowsell. She was preceded in death by her father Jesse Blaine Rowsell, mother DeAnn Ella Rowsell, brother Rory Rowsell and brother-in-law Brent Wiechman.

But LeAnn’s family was much bigger than the names that can fit on a page. It included lifelong friends, former coworkers, neighbors, extended family, and all of the people who were lucky enough to cross paths with her. Once LeAnn loved you, you were part of her world.

She will be remembered for her laughter, her warmth, her sass, her honesty, her generosity, her beautiful yard, her love of animals, her Christmas magic, and most of all, the enormous love she had for her family.

She will be missed in all the little places—in the garden, around the Christmas tree, during family gatherings, in conversations with strangers who would have quickly become friends, and around the campfire where there will always be one less person laughing and making memories.

LeAnn lived a life full of love. She loved her husband deeply. She loved her daughters fiercely. She adored her grandchildren beyond words. She loved her friends, her home, her garden, her animals, and every opportunity to bring a little more joy into the lives of the people around her. And she was deeply, deeply loved in return. LeAnn may have left this world surrounded by the beauty of the mountains, but she left behind something even more beautiful: a family full of her love, stories full of her laughter, and memories that will keep her close forever.

There will never be another LeAnn. And there never needs to be. There was only one—and she was wonderfully, completely, unapologetically herself.
