I studied German and Russian at Michigan State University. During my studies, I had a little roadblock, when I had brain surgery in 1991 and was paralyzed, due to the neurosurgeon's mistake. Despite that, I had attained a B.A. in 1994. Upon completion of a B.A., I worked for Ford Motor Company in the food service division and studied for my MBA (at the company's expense) completing it in August 1997. I was "overqualified" by then to get a job, so I took an apprenticeship test at Ford in October, 1997, scoring 100% on it. The food service division was outsourced in January, 1998, so I looked for work elsewhere. I worked various jobs until I was called to embark on a career in machine repair in September, 2000.
I stayed single for a long time, due to not being able to find a guy who would accept me for my neurosurgical problem. Then one day...... I have been married since August 14, 2004, to a wonderful man, with whom I was set up on a blind date. As of September, 2014, we live full-time in the in Howell we purchased in July, 2004. Since buckling down, we have been completely debt free since August, 2014 and also sold our second home, due to both of us being transferred to Dearborn. We both work the same hours and commute together, as well.
I have been off of Phenobarbitol (at my request) since August 7, 1992. When I did some research, I found out my seizures were not them at all, but more than likely a severely toxic reaction to monosodium glutamate (thanks to my husband). It is finally nice to put that behind me. Now only if I can go the rest of my life without any further neurosurgeries (going well since 11/91). Ironically, I also read that shunt malfunctions may be caused by food additives and man-made ingredients (monosodium glutamate, saccharin, aspartame, preservatives other than salt and sugar, etc.).
I could not remember much about school. Not sure if it was due to being on 180 mg Phenobarbitol every day, or if it was due to the last brain surgery in 1991. I was voted class bookworm. I am not sure why, because school was not my favorite thing. I guess people knew me better than I did. I ended up working part-time at a bookstore for 5 years and have amassed a ton of books.

Did you ever try elimination of msg from Dori's diet (which is very difficult)? As of 2006 or so, my shunt is not working, but eliminating msg eliminated any symptoms of shunt malfunction/ hydrocephalus (no seizures, no fluid build-up, no headaches, nothing).
