Politico, turned hippie, turned computer nerd.
Went to Portland, OR to escape snow, then to Albuquerque, NM, for more sun.
Only went back once for my niece's wedding.
Thought I was going to be rich and famous.
Decided against it.
Always wanted to be a bar tender, and never got a round to it.
Joined the Weather Underground.
Decided I didn't like living in caves.
Moved to Oregon.
Still not much sun.
But when you are always online in front of a computer, you tend not to notice.
After retiring, went for the New Mexico sunshine.
Interesting place. Carlsbad Caverns, Roswell, Area51, Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde, Georgia O'Keefe museum, etc. Mts for skiing, lakes for boating, wide vistas.

I was also in the SAP class with Ivars. It was very disappointing to later run into him and find he was working delivering mail. He was much smarter than that, (not that there is anything wrong with delivering mail). I don't know if tuition was a problem or what, but this country should not waste talent like his. He always was a little shy, just like me, so maybe it was a question of confidence or accent? He was tall and strong when I ran into him in the late 1970s. Remember something about his eyes? Perhaps they were green or something slightly exotic.
Did not find much more, just:

I remember him as the fastest runner I ever saw. In elementary school there was a game on the playground called "Pom Pom Pullaway", and he could always catch anyone because he was so fast.
@George, well said.
Well that makes it more understandable at least.
Life is too short and unfair, but we have to concentrate on helping the living and not dwell on things that can not be changed. Cheyrl the one who someone could do somthing to help, but I am too far away and remember too little. Sorry that I can not do more.
