Carol Nestande (Dibbert)

West Division Class of 1958 will always remember our friend and classmate...

Carol A. Dibbert

Carol Audrey Dibbert, age 85, of Hurley, WI was born May 5, 1940 and passed on March 9, 2026. Carol was born in Milwaukee, WI as the only child of Merril and Martha Nestande.

From a young age she developed a love of reading that would turn into a lifetime obsession to read every book she could get her hands on. As a child she loved to spend time on her grandparent’s farm in Fairfax, MN were she would explore and spend time with a dog named Jiggs. As an adult she would work in the Gimbels Department Store in downtown Milwaukee for thirty years. She worked in many different areas of the department store, but her favorite was to work in the beauty and cosmetics department trying and experimenting with all of the new and latest products.

After many years of vacationing in Northern Wisconsin she would decide to purchase a seasonal cabin at a place called Island Lake in Hurley, WI. After the passing of her parents she decided to have the cabin renovated into a full-time residence and left Milwaukee behind to live on the lake in Hurley, WI for the next thirty years.

During retirement, Radar which was a golden retriever / german shepherd mix with large ears that stood straight up in the air, would go everywhere with her and be her faithful companion for fifteen years. Also, her great grandchildren would always enjoy visiting Lake Grandma, as she came to be known. At her home at Island Lake she would spend many days over the years swimming in the lake, reading books on the dock, gardening, drinking Diet Pepsi, and hanging out with family and friends, and her rescue cats and dogs.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Merril and Martha Nestande; and daughter Linda Dibbert. Carol is survived by her son, James Dibbert; grandson Jesuha (Becki) Dibbert; great granddaughter Sarah Dibbert; and great granddaughter Ashleah Dibbert.
