Comments:
I am a School of Music Fellow at the University of Minnesota, studying with internationally-acclaimed soloist Alex Fiterstein, and will finish my master's degree in clarinet performance in the spring of 2015.
Here are some of my highlights from the last year:
Thursday Musical Young Artist Scholarship Competition - 1st Prize in College Winds, March 2014
Received a grant from the Rislov Foundation in Ann Arbor, MI for excellence in classical music, based on my recording of Carl Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto which I performed from memory in a collaborative faculty/student recital at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis in February.
Accepted as the only clarinetist to AlpenKammerMusik, a chamber music festival in Austria, summer of 2014.
Received a grant covering tuition and housing at the festival in Austria from the International Festival Society in Santa Barbara, California.
Performed Ireland's Fantasy-Sonata and Stanford's Clarinet Sonata in a collaborative recital on March 25th. Will also perform Milhaud's Suite in May.
Pursued additional private study with Fredrik Fors (Co-Principal Clarinet,
Oslo-Filharmonien) and Robyn Jones (Professor of Clarinet, University of Memphis).
Performed as Principal Clarinetist for the University of Minnesota's production of Smetana's The Bartered Bride.
Several short tours as Reed 1 with the Jazz Vocal Quintet, Five By Design.
Recorded Larry Baker's The Unreasoning Mask with Dr. Tim Lane and Dr.
Jeffery Crowell over the summer.
Performed as reed musician in the show Rainy Days & Mondays at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre (Actors' Equity Association) in November.
Performed as reed musician in Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George at Peninsula Players (AEA) in July and August.
Of course I also feel very fortunate to have 12 students in my studio right now, teaching clarinet, saxophone, and flute students (all ages).
