Obituary for Sandra Lee Kankelfritz

Sandra Lee Christianson Kankelfritz was born on May 13, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 
She went to be with her Lord in Woodbridge, Virginia, on December 16, 2023, at the age of 81 
after years of struggle with cancers. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Harold 
and Marcia Christianson, an infant daughter, Montserrat Kankelfritz, and a stillborn son, Arthur 
Kankelfritz III. 

Sandi Kankelfritz is survived by her husband of 59 years, Melvin L. Kankelfritz of Woodbridge, 
Virginia, 3 children, Sonja Kirchoff (Scott) of Osmond, Nebraska; Kristianjon Kankelfritz (Tessa) 
of Hillsborough, North Carolina; and Marcia Quigley (Paul) of Woodbridge, Virginia, and 5 
grandchildren, Gabriel Kirchoff; Nathaniel Kirchoff; Hannah Kankelfritz; Emily Quigley; and 
Draek Quigley. She is also survived by her Chihuahua dog, Doodles, and Orange Tabby cat, 
Tigger. 

Sandi Kankelfritz was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was 
educated as a teacher and taught preschool at Buffalo Presbyterian Church. She also held 
numerous managerial positions throughout her career. Sandi loved gardening, the beach and 
was an excellent artist. Her favorite mediums were pottery, stained glass, and photography. 
She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband. 

Sandi loved her Lord Jesus Christ and was a member and elder of the Presbyterian Church
