Nancy 'Nan' Elsbecker 1942–2017 Owatonna—Nancy "Nan" Carole Elsbecker, age 75, of Owatonna, died on November 28, 2017 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital after battling congestive heart failure. Nan was born on August 30, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to Robert and Margie (Coyour) Forbes. She grew up in Minneapolis and attended Roosevelt High School. After graduating high school, she worked for First National Bank in downtown Minneapolis for several years before moving to Owatonna, MN. She was united in marriage to James (Jim) Edward Elsbecker at Bethel Church on August 7, 1976. They had two daughters and lost an infant son. They lived in Owatonna and spent summers at a family cabin in Faribault. Nan worked various jobs in both Owatonna and Faribault. At the time of her death, she was employed by Semcac at SeniorPlace. She has always loved to help people. Whether she was setting up tables for seniors to eat, singing in a choir, working with the youth group, decorating a parade float with a broken arm and leg, or volunteering in the church kitchen, she has always loved helping people –with a smile on her face and sparkle in her eye. She brings her servant heart to work and to church. Her faith has always been important to her. She accepted Christ at Minnehaha Baptist Church, Minneapolis. She was an active volunteer for the churches she was involved in including Bethel Church and currently, St. Luke's Non-Denominational Church in Faribault. She is survived by her husband, Jim of Owatonna; children, Mindy (Erik) Molin of Roseville and Jana (Jeremy) Mickelson of Owatonna; five grandchildren, Tryg and Kale Molin of Roseville and Kya Elsbecker (her BFF) , Kaleb and Levi Mickelson of Owatonna; siblings, Jack (Brenda) Forbes of Webster, WI and Jeff Forbes of Owatonna; mother-in-law, Mary Elsbecker of Owatonna; Aunts, Dee Beckett of Minneapolis and Bev Coyour of Medford; various nieces, nephews and cousins. Nan was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Marge and son, Robbie. Visitation will take place at St. Luke's Church, Faribault, MN from 10-11am on Saturday, December 2nd. A Memorial Service will follow at 11am. A private interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
