LeRoy Hodge, 69

LeRoy “Lee” Hodge, 69, died Friday, October 5, 2012.

LeRoy “Lee” Hodge, 69, died Friday, October 5, 2012.

LeRoy was born November 29, 1942, in Minneapolis, to parents LeRoy and Helen (Mullen) Hodge. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960 and furthered his education at Minneapolis Vocational Technical College, where he received his associate degree in tool and die from Dunwoody Institute.

Lee was united in marriage to Joyce Cook on March 13, 1982 in Rockford. The family resided in Rockford where Lee ran his tool and die business out of their home.

Lee will be remembered as a socializer. There was never a person he couldn’t talk to. He was also a very kind man, who was always there for people. Everyone felt welcome in their home, from friends of the kids, to co-workers and customers.

Lee was never a man that could sit still, but in 1987 he suffered a heart attack and was unable to work. In an odd way, this became a blessing as Joyce introduced Lee to boating. He fell in love with it immediately and just had one request: they needed to get a bigger boat.

In 2000, Lee and Joyce purchased the Carlos Marina and fulfilled his final dream of living on the water. He enjoyed taking the kids ice fishing, visiting with boaters and enjoying the lake.

He loved his grandchildren and had a special relationship with each one of them. Memories of their times together held a special place in his heart.

He was a member of the Third Degree Mason and a Shriner with the Zuhrah Shrine of Minneapolis.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Michael (Karen) of Zimmerman; daughters, Shelly Hodge of St. Bonifacius, Jessica (Michael) Clarke of Otsego; nine grandchildren, Sara, Melissa, Rachel, Karisa, Olivia, Gabriel, Daniel, Jordan and Brandon; along with multiple adopted grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Time of Sharing at 7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 13 at 2 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Memories will be shared by Kevin Wiseman, granddaughters, fishing buddies and dock crew.

Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria; www.andersonfuneral.net.
