Roberta Ann Houston (Wawra) (Bobby) Obituary
Mpls, MN - Bobby Wawra Houston 'Nana'age 83, passed peacefully in her home at Havenwood of Richfield Nov 15, 2025. She lived for 54 years in South Minneapolis prior to requiring assisted living care after receiving a diagnosis of Lewy Body dementia. Despite this physical and mental deterioration, Nana's rosy cheeks and bright smile showed through during visits with her. This is how her friends and family will remember her.
Bobby enjoyed staying busy with cooking and creative outlets, completing knit, crochet, and needle work projects. She is best known for gifting homemade sweet rolls to teachers and crochet ivory blankets as wedding gifts. Bobby's greatest joy came from her grandkids. Nana helped care for babies while their parents worked. They would also join her coffee groups, walks at the MOA and daily mass. As the grandkids grew older, she also became their bus ride for school and various appointments.
Bobby was born to George and Margaret Wawra, formerly of Minneapolis and was the first of four children. She attended Rosevelt High School and later worked at a bank until marrying Gene Houston. At that point her full-time role was "boss" of the house.
Preceded in death by George and Margaret Wawra (parents) and Peter Houston (son); survived by husband Gene, children, grandchildren, her siblings their spouses, and nieces, nephews, their spouses and children.
A lifelong Catholic, services will be held Dec. 4th at her childhood home church: St. Helena Church, 3204 E. 43rd St. Mpls, 55406. Visitation 10:00AM, Mass 11:00AM, Luncheon 12:00PM, 1:30PM burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
