The following information provided by Connie Uphoff (Wolke). Barb died on 08/29/1984. Barb first attended the U of M & then transferred to Mankato State College where she received a degree in education. She met her husband, Robert McCart, at Mankato State. They were married in the Spring of 1965. After graduation she taught elementary education in the Mpls. Public schools, full time at first & later she worked part time as an SLBP teacher. Barb was diagnosed with lupus erythmatosis sometime between 1966 & 1968. Barb & Bob's daughter Julie was born in March, 1969. Barb's doctor insisted that she could have no more children due to the lupus. The McCart's loved to go camping, boating & snowmobiling. That was a problem for Barb because she wasn't supposed to be in the sun. She wore sunscreen, hats, & long sleeved shirts to protect herself. Occasionally she would have flare ups. Once she was in the hospital 3 months with a flare up. The lupus eventually attacked her vital organs. She had surgery in June of 1984 & never got out of the hospital Barb & Bob were divorced at unknown date. She later became good friends and then married to Wayne Geist on 6/18/83. Barb's illness & divorce were hard on Julie. Julie is happily married to Mike Senden. They have four children, Sara(1/31/96), Steven(10/22/97 & twins Meghan & john(6/112/02). Julie has taught elementary education for several years. Julie has Barb's sense of humor & gift for gab.
