James C. Peterson Obituary

Richfield - Peterson, James C. of Richfield, MN, passed away peacefully July 12, 2025, age 82. Jim is survived by daughters Alexis Peterson and Anne (Greg) Nelson, and son Ryan Peterson. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Carol (Kleven) Peterson of 47 years, his parents Clarence and Phyllis (Gottschalk) Peterson, and brother David Peterson. He is survived by sister Linda (Joel) Jackson of Maple Grove, MN, plus grandchildren Christina and Ben Peterson as well as other family members including many nieces and nephews. Born in Minneapolis, MN, on Sept. 25, 1942, Jim graduated Roosevelt High School, St. Cloud State University, and Brown Institute focusing on broadcasting and media education. Jim worked as a sports editor and broadcaster at KEYC-12 in Mankato, MN, later moving to Richfield with his family to work for the State of Minnesota's Social Security Disability office for 30+ years. He was heavily involved in his children's and grandchildren's recreational activities and officiated high school boys organized sports - football, basketball and baseball. Jim loved taking care of his home and yard. He and Carol enjoyed traveling and in retirement they wintered in Clearwater Beach, FL. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 11 a.m. at Washburn- McReavy Edina Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
