Leslie was one of the first friends I made in kindergarten. We walked home from Lake Harriet Elementary School together - she the little artist, me the big mouth singer. But then she moved away. I missed my friend. I would walk by her old apartment across from the Como/Harriet Street Car Depot, 1/2 block from Lake Harriet where West 42nd meets Queen and say, "That's where Leslie used to live."
Many years later, I saw her again in high school and always greeted her with a smile and a "hello" when we'd meet down the halls of Southwest. I got lucky and had the occasion to converse with Leslie's husband, Steve Dimond, a couple of years ago. He is smart, kind, and insightful. I say this as I'm of the opinion that Leslie garnered a special relationship when she married Steve. Their ceremony took place on the north shore in Grand Marais.
May you rest in peace, Leslie,

Like Julie, I was friends with Leslie going back to kindergarten at Lake Harriet School. Also, our mothers were both artists and friends. I also remember their house on Upton near Lake Harriet. We didn't stay in touch over the years - I think I last saw her at a Southwest reunion- but I have happy memories of her. My thoughts and sympathy to her family.
It's hard to say goodbye to a wonderful soul and a dear old friend---a 'best friend' from youth. I have so many precious memories. How fortunate that we reconnected and had time together as full-fledged adults.
