I went to IU in Bloomington, then returned to the area after graduating. I began working at Oaklawn Psychiatric Center in Elkhart and worked as a case manager with children & families for a couple of years. I then applied to grad school and attended Smith College in Massachusetts, where I got my Master's in Social Work. I did 2 internships during that program (8 months a piece), 1 in Los Angeles doing therapy with at-risk youth and 1 in Boston doing therapy for adults w/ chronic mental illnesses. I learned A LOT...about clinical theory/techniques and about myself. It was really a growing experience. Now I'm back in town, I've returned to Oaklawn in a new role, and I'm readjusting to life in South Bend. Boy, it's hard to sum up 10 years without coming off like you're doing an infomercial about yourself. Sorry about that!
