What do you remember most about high school?
I enjoyed sports, and the encouragement that Coach John Jones and Bob Connell, and Mike Dorsett (chess coach) gave me.
You could see any top Rock bands for $7.50 to $10.00 per ticket. Rush, Cheap Trick, AC/DC, Van Halen, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, the Cars, John Cougar Mellancamp, Blue Oyster Cult, Chicago, ....we went to a lot of them. Seemed like me and Jimmy Fleetwood were always going to a concert.
The music was far better that most of what is being produced today.
Had a lot of great times with Brian Lehman, Jim Lynch, Keith Lowery, and David Williams.
Playing baseball down at the park by Lehigh Cement Co. During night games, the fog from the creek and the gyp dust from Lehigh made pop flies hell to see and catch.
Our team (First National Bank) Winning the Babe Ruth league Championship over Regal Beloit in 1981.
Being in the weight room and everyone getting quite...then laughing when the announcement that President Reagan had been shot came over the radio.
Our beloved guidance counselor Karen Wingard, who told me over and over that I was not "college material," that no four year university would ever except me and that I should go to trade school, get some kind of job training and get on with my life. Looking back, with a Ph.D. 4 books published, and having been invited to speak before Congress and at the Library of Congress - I think she might have been just a bit off on her advice. Ha !
What an absolute prick Assistant Principal Roger Fisher was. He would be taken to court for some of the unethical and harassing shit he pulled back then. Wish I knew then what I know now. Also, any man that collects Avon bottles, well.....need i say more.
