15 Year Reunion

Class of 1989:  15 Year Reunion

September 24-25, 2004

Friday Night Football:
Classmates parked at the practice field and enjoyed tailgating together prior to the homecoming football game.  Kerry Powers, and assistant principal at Davie, took us on a tour of the High School which now has buildings lettered up to L!  There were many highlights of the tour -- a new media center, new chorus room and band rooms, and a brand new gym.  He also told us that no one uses lockers anymore & all of the lockers had been removed from the lobby of the E building....they have been replaced by benches.  Davie is now the home to over 1700 students.  It really felt like a different place.

The War Eagles took on Freedom and beat them soundly 32 to 0.  Ciera Smith was crowned homecoming queen.  We had 45 classmates attend game including our homecoming queen Jackie Geter-Hunter.

Saturday Family Picnic:
Blankets & strollers lined the grounds of Rich Park during the Class of '89 informal picnic.  Forty-six classmates and their families gathered at Shelter #2 for food, fun and fellowship.  Horseshoes, Bocci and kids playing in the creek were some of the highlights of the afternoon.  It was so nice to have a chance to visit with each other and meet all the beautiful families!

Saturday Night at the Adams Mark:
Saturday night, September 25th, 2004 seventy members of the Class of '89 met in the Forsyth ballroom of the Adam's Mark hotel in Winston Salem.  The evening began when we each received beautiful name tags & placecards designed by Gina (Vogler) Boone.  These name tags were decorated with color copies of our senior pictures to help us recognize each other...even though we haven't changed that much!  Also, a jellybean scavenger hunt icebreaker helped kickoff the event.  Each classmate had a tin of jellybeans adorned with his or her kindergarten (or earliest available) picture hidden around the ballroom.  A questionnaire was distributed to determine awards to be given away later that night.  A group picture was taken by JE Brown Photography of Yadkinville and then dinner was served.

After dinner, DJ Kevin Kerr played 80's dance tunes to get the party started.  A CD of songs spanning our all our years school (77-89) was awarded to the classmates that had been married the longest, most recently married, had the youngest child, had the most children, traveled the farthest to get to the reunion, had the most exciting job, lives closest to Davie High School and to the classmate that could identify the most kindergarten photos on the questionnaire. Winners are listed below.  The room was made festive with black & white tablecloths and balloons of orange, black & white were used as centerpieces.  Display boards containing our senior photos, local & national events of 1989, music, TV and movie trivia were also displayed for our viewing pleasure.  Yearbook photos from our classes from 1977-1989 were also available.  It was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with everyone & reminisce about days gone by.
