HISTORY

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Macon County High School was established in the late 1950s in Montezuma, Georgia as a "white" school. The "black" school was located across town, and was known as D.F Douglass High School. Although the years of segregation had ended, D. F. Douglass still remained open and predominately black. There was also another school in Macon County, Lamson Richardson and it was located in the heart of Marshallville, GA. In the late 90s, D.F. Douglass and Lamson Richardson was closed and students were sent to Macon County High School.  The first principal of Macon County High School was Carl S. Peaster, and the Principal now is Ricky Edmond.
In our early years as we began Macon County Primary School, grades kindergarten-second, our principal was Delores Felder. Next, we attended Macon County Elementary, third grade through fifth, Thomas Emily was our principal. As we advanced to Macon County Junior High, grades sixth through eighth, we had two principals, Annis Goddard (sixth and seventh grade) and Dale Gordon (eighth grade). During the Class of 2000's tenure at Macon County High School (ninth through twelfth), there was a new principal each year. {Carl Peaster, Danny Saunds, Wylene Webb and Larry Woodruff}
