Children: | None of my own , except for hundreds of students I have taught over the last 25 years. Living in the More…same community I teach in has given me the opportunity to be involved with my students and their families from the time they are very young. I have had many wonderful "furry children" over the years, and currently share my home with Jessie, a 6 year old border collie/lab mix who keeps me on the run (literally up and down Pedlar Run), and Gracie, my 9 month old kitten. I just lost my 16 year old beloved dog Moses to old age. We had many adventures together, and I miss her very much. |

I attended WVU, where I majored in Secondary Education, French, and Library Science. I started teaching in Monongalia County upon graduating, and have been have worked in several different places. I started out working in some permanent substitute jobs, and was hired full-time at Waitman-Barbe Junior High/National Elementary as Library media specialist from 1985-1992. I transferred to Clay-Battelle Middle/High School in 1992, employed as French teacher. This year was a major change when I added Cheat Lake Middle School to my schedule. It is so cool to teach in the place you went to school. It hasn't really changed that much in the old section of the school, and there are many family names that I remember from my days there. I was married in 1980, and divorced in 1998. I remain single, but in a committed relationship with a wonderful man. I have my "dream house" ...a 110 year old farmhouse in the country, where I have lots of room for my antiques and pets I love. God has blessed me in a million ways over the years, and continues to be the guiding light in my life.
I remember all the fun from band: trip to Florida, band camp, concerts, football games. Music is still an important part of my life, and I continue to play the flute, and have been woodwind instructor for Clay-Battelle band for many years.
My two favorite teachers were Mrs. Smith, our librarian, and Mrs. Renahan, our French teacher. They both inspired me to study more in both those areas, and it was a honor to work with both of them. French classes were always small at UHS..usually just a few of us, but what fun we had. Mrs. Renahan showed me that there was a world outside on West Virginia, and Mrs. Smith showed me how to travel with my mind beyond the school walls.
