School Story:
Most of my memories were very good ones. One of my favorite things was being able to be involved in all the school plays. Back when I was in 9th grade, Steve McNamara encouraged me to try out for the play "Scapino". He and I were the two cops.... Michael Lawrence was the director.... I loved working for him... he taught me so much! On the afternoon of opening night, I asked my cousin to go over to trenton and get me 2 quarts of beer. As a loving cousin she did... It was in a brown paper bag. I was going to hide them at the school and then take them to the cast party after the show. Well back in those days, we walked to school, up hill both ways..... lol..... when I got to the back of the school and walking to the front of the school..... two of Morrisville's finest police came driving up to me. I was so scared I started running to the front entrance t get inside before they could see me get in. well, their car was faster and their feet were faster and they grabbed me right before I could get to the front door. They asked me why did I run and why and I shaking and why am I sweating so bad???? I was so nervous I could not even talk. They asked me what was in the bag and then they grabbed it and seen the beer.... so they hauled me to jail.... called my mother, who at the time was dating the biggest guy in town, who also happened to be a county constable.... I was scared being in the police station, but I was more scared of my mother and her 6 foot 5 inch constable boyfriend. As they walked thru the jail I here my mother crying and her boyfriend snarling like a bull at a rodeo. His eyes had fire in them as he approached me as he got closer his eyes were more and more bulging out... he came right for me and try to grab me but the cops stopped him then my mother stepped in and was trying whale on me.... i wanted to laugh because she could not hurt me.... but her boyfriend could so I acted like she was killing me.... lol .... The cops got the boyfriend to settle down... they said they would keep the beer and order pizza..... they told be the only reason they were letting me go was because of my mother's boyfriend. Now mind you. I had 60 minutes of make up to be put on and now it was only 55 minutes till the show. So mom raced me to the show and said was was grounded and could not go to the cast party. Well needless to say, they got my makeup on and I did he show. Michael Lawrence said that I stole the show and that my performance was good enough for broadway. Not bad for a first show ah! When we met with the people after the show, all of my mother's friends were raving about me... this is were I first seen the devil as I made my first huge mistake in life. For those who know my mom, she is a saint.... but stupid me I began to thank all of her friends for their kind words. Then I said..."I wish I could really enjoy this tonight, but my mom will not let me go to the cast party" OMG! It was like the sun went black, and the storms of life were thundering in..... My mother grew horns and was breathing fire as all of her friends pressed her to let me go to the cast party..... she was already embarrassed and she would never tell them about what I just did.... so to save face, she said in front of her friends that I could go but I have to be home by midnight.... she put on one of the fakest smiles anyone had ever seen. Her friends were all so happy for me that they got my mom to give the go ahead. After all her friends started to leave, she grabbed me by my arm and pulled me aside and said if I am not home by midnight that the wrath of God will descend upon me... I kissed her on the cheek and ran to the dressing room. First thing I did was tell Steve McNamara what happened. He could not believe it... well we went to the cast party and there was a lot of alcohol there.... It is funny how quickly we can forget about our troubles when we are young... so someone offered me a beer... and I drank it.... Steve Mac seen me and said man, what are you doing???? I said I will be ok, I am just having one.... the next thing I remember is Steve waking me up at 10 am and me with a huge hang over.... I said to him, what the heck happened? He said I drank a six pack of beer and I was smash.... so he knew I could not go home so he took me to his place.... My mother had the police looking for me and she had called everyone in town looking for me. Steve told me I better go home.... I knew I was dead meat. That was the longest walk of my life.... I felt like I was going to the electric chair and there was no way out... When I approached the side door, I was met by you know how, yep... it was the 6 foot 5 inch constable, who grabbed me by my shirt and hurled me clear into the living room.... at this moment in time I thought it was time for me to meet Jesus!!!!! LOL..... so I jumped behind the couch, bad choice.... because he moved that couch like it was a feather.... as he did that I ran upstairs to my room.... I could hear his feet banging on each step like he was the incredible hulk. I heard my mother running up behind him as he was about to knock my door down, my mother got in between him and the door and told him to go down stairs and that she wanted to handle it... oh My God.... He heard my prayers..... as i heard him start to go down stairs I quickly jumped up and put my dresser in front of the door. Now my mom is banging on my door for me to open it..... i would not.. so i now can feel the earth shake and a loud thunderous voice yelling at me... yes, he was coming back up.... thank God for my mother because this time he was going to wipe me out... lol... mom stopped him again and he went back down..... so wisdom set in and I removed to the dresser and let her in..... yes I was grounded for 2 weeks, yes this was during the turkey game between Bristol and us. Yes It is the first home game I missed since I born. But looking back on that day, which is 34 years ago almost to the day, I am thankful that God spared my life and thankful that I grew up a Morrisville Bulldog!
