Comments:

Still serving in the U.S. Army after almost 22 years, but I am still having too much fun hunting bad guys so I think I'll stick around until they tell this old soldier to go home. Because of this lifestyle, I've learned to really grasp and appreciate the truly important things in life. My awesome wife Anke, truly is my best friend and we just celebrated 20 years of marriage on 09 August 2010. She really is the toughest person I know because she has stood by me through so much over the years.(Gulf War, United Nations Missions to Macedonia, Bosnia, the current war in Iraq/Afghanistan and Lord only knows how many other deployments and special missions that kept me away for sometimes months/year at a time. She truly is the epitomy of a soldiers wife and that is probably the toughest job in the Army. My two boys Dennis(18) and Jason(15)are the reason that I do what I do. They are the part of my life that makes me want to get up every day and make my little part of the world a better place. Dennis was an academic all-star and standout soccer player. He has been on the National Who's Who list of outstanding academic achievment since 7th grade, was among a select few of those chosen to attend the U.S. Congressional Student Fellowship Program and was inducted into the National Honor Society and is a graduate of the American Legion Boys State here in Washington. After graduating this year, he too, is also serving in the U.S. Army as a Blackhawk Helicopter Repairman/Crew Chief. The boy truly loves to fly. Jason is also an academic hero and one hell of an athlete. He plays soccer, basketball and has recently found his groove as a standout pitcher and 1st baseman/ outfielder for his High school baseball team along with being an exceptional standout on the JROTC Color Guard and Armed Drill Team. Yes, I do like to brag on my family, but like Dizzy Dean once said, " It ain't bragging if you can do it." I truly have so much to be thankful for and I am not sure if this is where I thought I would be in life when we graduated but I am not complaining. I have enjoyed getting older. I have been all over the world, seen a lot of cool stuff, met some awesome people and tried to learn something from it all. I can't wait to see what the next 20 years will be like.

School Story:

I remember that every morning, having to walk through the "smoking section" to get in the doors at school and the different smells, i.e., cigarettes, menthols, wacky tabacky, Sun-Drop mixed with Jim Beam, too much Polo cologne and Aqua Net Hairspray. At the same time the vice pricipal (Mr. Wallace) was just mingling, socializing like it was normal. Man, how times have changed in high schools today.
