Jim threw the javelin at Penn State.  I threw the javelin at the Naval Academy.  That's about all there was with regard to our similar pursuits.  Jim threw the javelin over 50 feet farther than I did, held the javelin record at Penn State for many years, had a real shot at the US Olympic Team, and later coached area highschool athletes in the shot put and the javelin.  He was, in fact, a world class athlete, and if I understand things correctly, was also very prominent in senior track and field.

A most impressive record for all of us to remember.
