"Babish" (why did we all use just last names?!)  was a good friend and one with whom I shared lots of fun times and good memories.  We lost track of each other for years and then got "found" again thanks to Sherry Rock (Zealley) who had kept in touch with both of us.  Pat was diagnosed with ALS in 1996 or so and passed away about two years later.  Sherry was able to visit her in California at that time and we all had a few laughs in conversation on her speaker phone (she had lost her ability to speak by then but I could still hear her laughter in the background).  I will hold her in my memory with all good thoughts and thanks for the time we had together.

I continue to be reminded of my friend Babish every time St. Patty's day rolls around cause that was her birthday - hence the name Pat!

I thought of her again recently at a classic car show.  She had a red Chevy convertible - I don't remember the year - 60 or 61 - that helped our gang celebrate graduation.  Fortunately it wasn't raining when we crused Mt. Lebanon.

She had some beautiful Peruvian Paso horses that she rode and loved - I was jealous on that one.

I was so happy that she married a wonderful man who took such good care of her to the bitter end - so much so that he passed away from exhaustion prior to her death.  She had live in help so was well cared for.  Her cousin wrote to me about these events for which I am eternally grateful.

You just can't replace your golden friends but you can have wonderful memories of them.
