David Bock died in Carmel City, CA on April 25, 2018 of cancer. He also had a long history dealing with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by his wife Joyce and four children. News of Dave's passing was provided by Mike Reed, who added the following memoir:

I was first introduced to Dave through John Campbell when we were all 12 years old, and three of us remained close friends for over sixty years. Dave's only residence has been California while John and I settled on the east coast. Periodic visits to each of our homes cemented our friendship. Heck, each of our wives became friends with each other over all of these years, a wonderful bonus for all of us. Knowing that our dear friend was coming to the end of his life, John and I along with our wives flew out to California to spend time with Dave and Joyce telling old stories (with exaggerations, of course), going out to dinner, and just "hanging out". It was the best way for all of us to say good bye. Our good buddy will be missed.
