I was searching online after Kathy T. asked if we knew where Jeanne Jones could be found.  My online search turned up this gem from The Herald about 'the Jots'!  Debbie, Valentino, here are some good typos for you!  Note the great follow up article about redistricting and 'too many frills' in the plans to upgrade the high schools!

Millions in high school improvements still in limbo The High School Dist. 214 Board of Education Monday night accepted but did not act on a citizens' committee report recommending up to $24 million worth of improvements at the district's eight schools. Board Pres. Jack Costello said the board wanted more time to study the report before taking action. Committee members hoped to secure board approval to hire professional help to obtain more accurate cost estimates of the improvements. Costello said the board probably would return the proposal to the committee soon after the next scheduled board meeting Feb. 24. THE LENGTHY REPORT presented to the board included examples of numerous inequities, including space for Identical classes that range from 11,500 square feet at one building to 27,000 square feet at another. The report also cited examples of substandard conditions in buildings, which included classes held in hallways. The committee reaffirmed its intention to seek a referendum to finance the project by the end of the current school year. More than half the proposed improvements would come at the oldest and most crowded schools hi the district, Ar- lington and Forest View high schools. Also included in the improvements would be swimming pools and field- houses at district schools now without them. Also included would be central storage, power mechanics and construction technology facilities for the district. A resident, Dorothy Crane of Wheeling, spoke against the proposed improvements, saying too many "frills" were involved. "Are we going to turn our schools into mini-resorts?" she asked. IN OTHER ACTION at Monday's meeting the board and residents who live on the Wheeling-Hersey high school boundary discussed parent requests for an attendance-policy change for their neighborhood. Because of a recent shift in attendance boundaries affecting the two schools, some youngsters in the same neighborhood go to Hersey and others to Wheeling. Families who have had older children attend Hersey have the option of attending either school, while others must attend Wheeling. Parents were requesting some arrangement that would allow all students in the neighborhood to attend the same school. No decision had been made at press time. Parks candidate objects to incumbent's petitions William Hickey, one of five candidates for the Mount Prospect Park Board, filed an objection with the board Monday night challenging the candidacy petitions of board member Rosemary Argus. Hickey told the board Mrs. Argus' petitions apparently are invalid because they arc signed by 23 persons who also signed petitions for board member William Selep. Hickey said he became aware of the situation last Friday when he came to the park district office to review candidacy petitions. "I came in to see what my competition was and after looking over the petitions I became aware of this error," Hickey said. Hickey said because Sclep's petitions were notarized first, he felt the objection had to be filed against Mrs. Argus. Hickey further contended that because the petition forms state all signers must certify they have not subscribed to any other candidate's petition, the 23 duplicate names on Mrs. Argus' petition are invalid. THE CANDIDATES said that because 25 names are needed on a petition to qualify for candidacy, Mrs. Argus' name should not be allowed on the ballot because her petition contains only two valid signatures. Mrs. Argus said she was unaware that a problem with her petitions might exist. William Ward, park district attorney, said he would study the election code. "This is a reasonably important matter and I want to study the situation before I render an opinion," Ward said. Ward said although the petition form states signers may only sign one candidate's petition, the election code may in fact read differently. Both Hickey and Mrs. Argus are running for one of two six-year terms to be decided in the April 1 election. Selep and Richard P. Colcman also are running for six-year terms. Victor Rose, a Mount Prospect resident, Is the only candidate running for the four-year term to be filed in the race. Hickey and Coleman were forced to rc- file petitions on the last day of candidate filing last month because they failed to stipulate if they were running for six- year or four-year terms. Trustees to review master-plan revisions The Mount Prospect Village Board tonight will review proposed revisions to the village's master plan at a public hearing. It also calls for annexation of property south of the village and land east of the village for Industrial development. The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. at the village hall, 112 E. Northwest Hwy.
