
Obituary for Earl Scott Olsen
Earl "Scott" Olsen, 67 of Belvidere, passed away July 3, 2024. Born December 13, 1956 in Evanston; son of Earl Clyde and Muriel Louise (Oestman) Olsen. Scott was a graduate of Prospect High School in Mt. Prospect, class of 1975. He served in the United States Air Force from 1975-1979. He worked as a Printing Service Technician for AB Dick prior to opening his own business; Scott's Duplicator Service. Scott's children and grandchildren have many happy memories of sledding and ice skating in the Chicago Suburbs, with their dad. Scott was a diehard Classic Rock fan. He loved playing his records loudly and sharing his love of music with his family. He watched cooking shows and experimented with spices, seasonings and different recipes. He planned road trips around various restaurants he saw on television cooking shows, so that he could try their dishes. Scott was a huge Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed fishing and ice fishing on Fox Lake, Body Lake, Lake Zurich and in Lake in the Hills; among many other places. Survived by his children; Earl Eric (Sarah) Olsen, Kirsten (Justin) Broussard; former spouse, Donna Jane Olsen; grandchildren, Grace 'Jay', Emma Faith, Molly Jane, Maggie Diane and Sophia Marie Olsen, Aidan Scott and Brennan Joseph Broussard; mother, Muriel Olsen; siblings, Terry Kruty, Craig (Diane) Olsen; God child and niece, Cindy Kruty Springer; nieces, Hannah and Fiona Olsen and several cousins, a circle of friends and beloved dog, Cheerio. Preceded in death by his father, Earl Clyde Olsen and brother-in-law, Gary Kruty. Scott's family is grateful to the medical staff at UW SwedishAmerican Hospital, 7th floor and 9th floor for the loving care and compassion that they provided. Cremation rites accorded.
