I met Paul Youngquist in 8th grade at Lincoln School.  We got to be much better friends during our High Schools days.  Paul and I were lab partners in Chemistry with Mr. Gates and we were lab partners in Oceanography with Mr. Parsons.  I was the manager of the football team for three years (ie I handed out the jerseys and the footballs) and Paul Youngquist and many other great friends actually played on the football team.   Many times after school at PHS Paul Youngquist, Carl Dittmer and Lee Futch would come over to my house to play Risk.  Also, Paul and many other PHS classmates came over to my house for Friday night poker games.  It was a great time.

Also, Paul and I attended the University Of Illinois-Urbana together.  I was an Accounting major and he was a Landscape Architect major.  One evening after a very intense and grueling Auditing exam I stopped by at Paul's Architecture building.  Paul and all of his fellow students were drinking beers, having a wild and crazy squirt gun fight with the girls on the second floor.  They seemed to have a lot more fun in Landscape Architecture than in Accounting.

During the early 1980's Paul lived in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.  Many PHS classmates came up to visit Paul for long weekends hanging out at "Charles By The Sea" (ie a bar in Fontana, Wisconsin).  Paul passed away from cancer in  February 1992.  Paul's best friend, Lee Futch, passed away from the same type of cancer in 1999.  Paul was a classy guy, with a lot of charm.  He is missed by all.
