
On October 2, 1961, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, a baby boy was born to Ida M. and James E. Brown, Sr. He was given the name James Jr. James was the second of four children, and the family lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Affectionately known as "Junebug," during his early years, he played baseball for the Pepsi Cola Company. James attended Muskogee High School and graduated with the Class of 1979. He was on the school's track team and was also a member of the Muskogee High School Marching Band, playing the drums.
After high school, James worked at Funsten Nut Company. Shortly after, James moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked various jobs. James moved back to Muskogee in 2005, where he remained to work and live. In 2012, James met Laura DeLaRosa. They were together until his death.
On Friday, September 15, 2017, and surrounded by his family, James went into eternal sleep. He was preceded in death by his father, Sargent First Class, James E. Brown, Sr., his niece, Nicole Warren, Brothers-in-laaw, Bryant Allen and Brian Donaldson, his cousins, Timothy McGee[Logan] and Darrell Epps; his Aunts, Opaline Sheley, Lorne Brown, Helen Epps, Betty Shaw, Louisa McGee and Sylvia Black; his Uncles, Willie McGee, Curtis Black and Paul Jerome Brown.
He is survived by his mother, Ida Brown; his sisters, Ida [Robert] Warren, and Paula [Stacey] McGee; his brothers, Paul J. Brown and Damon Escoe; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Brown will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Martin Luther King Center, Suite A and B.
