On December 16, 1960, a baby boy was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Prince Eddie McJunkins II and Verna (Desmuke) McJunkins.  He was given the name Prince Eddie McJunkins III.

Prince accepted Christ at a young age in Muskogee, Oklahoma at Lane and Amos Chapel CME Church. He was raised in church and attended church all his life and currently loved worshipping at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with his family.

He received his formal education in Muskogee, finishing high school at Muskogee High, in the graduating class of 1979. He was a great football quarterback, and during his senior year, led his team to the playoff games that season. As a standout Rougher athlete, Prince was inducted into the Muskogee Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.

Prince attended Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. While at WSU, he continued to excel in football and became a legend in Shocker Country from 1979-1982.  During his time as a Shocker, he won the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year award in back-to-back seasons in (‘81 & ’82).

Prince helped bring WSU its last winning season in 1982, he also became the first NCAA player in history to pass for more than 4,000 yards and rush for more than 2,000 yards in a college career. 

After a successful journey at WSU, Prince pursued football at the next level, playing in the Canadian Football League (CFL), for the Ottawa Roughriders, from 1984-85. 

Rounding out his football legacy, he was inducted into the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame in 2008, and his #1 jersey was retired by the Shockers.

Prince started his professional career employed with the Department of Corrections (Probation and Parole) and the Veterans Administration, where he remained for years before transitioning to a contract worker in Iraq and Afghanistan. For the last ten years, Prince devoted his life to assisting our American government and military as an overseas contractor. 

“His life was his story, and his story was a good life, for a good man,” Prince was always a happy and kind person, he never met a stranger.  He was well known all over the country.  He was humble and selfless, and he loved his family and cherished his friends.

Although he was very competitive, he was your friend in the end.  He loved and excelled in all sports, and in the latter years of his life became an avid golfer; he truly loved the game and shared his passion for golf with his son and friends.

Prince was a proud member of KAPPA ALPHA Psi Fraternity, Inc.  He was initiated into the Delta Upsilon chapter of Kappa during the spring of 1980, with his pledge line: Lucky 7. Prince sought to live a life committed to the Kappa motto, “Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor,” as he brought a standard of excellence to all he touched and modeled excellence and achievement for his family and all those he mentored. 

Early in life, Prince married Josette Pierce, and to this union were three children: Crystal, Janae and Prince.  The marriage was later dissolved.

On August 25, 2007, Prince married Shantel Billings and to this union he had one son, Journey, and a stepdaughter, Cherish, who he raised as his own.

Prince was preceded in death by his parents, Prince Eddie McJunkins II and Verna (Desmuke) Palmer, along with a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives.           

On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, Prince scored his final and last TOUCHDOWN of life with God as his RECIEVER.

He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy his wife of 14 years, Shantel (Billings) McJunkins, of Muskogee, Ok.  Two sons, Prince McJunkins, Bartlesville, OK., Journey McJunkins, Muskogee, Ok.  Three Daughters, Crystal Pierce and Janae McJunkins, Edmond, OK., Cherish Thompson, Muskogee, OK.   Two brothers Eric (Linda) McJunkins, Copperas Cove, TX. and Donald McJunkins, Muskogee, OK.  Two sisters, Pam Murray, Dallas, TX, and Gwendolyn (Marvin) Freeman, Muskogee, OK. 

Two Aunts, Joyce Hornbeak, San Antonio, TX. and Teresa Desmuke, Belflower, CA.  His stepfather JC Palmer, Muskogee, OK., and Mother-in-law Cleada Billings, Muskogee, OK.  Two Sister-in-laws; Catrina (Derrick) Billings, Tulsa, OK., Chenelle Billings, Oklahoma City, OK.  One Brother-in-law; Jontay Billings, Tulsa, OK.

A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends, who will mourn his passing and miss his smile, but will forever remember him as the man on and off the field that touched many lives.

A PRIVATE Service of Memory will be conducted, Friday, February 19,2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Oasis Church, 800 W. Peak Blvd. Muskogee,OK with interment following in Booker T. Washington cemetery.
