
Reverend Roosevelt Pratt was born on December 12, 1960 in Taft, Oklahoma, the son of James Bratt and Ruby Simmons. He was the youngest of four siblings.
His education began in Taft, where he attended Taft Public Schools and later Muskogee Public School, where he was a member of the Muskogee Rougher Basketball team and a graduate of the Class of 1979.
Roosevelt Pratt began his Christian journey in Taft, being baptized and attended Flipper Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, under the Pastoral guidance of the late Reverend B. J. Beckner. Later, he moved with his family to Muskogee and became a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Frank Morrison. During his time at Central, he was a member of the Sunday School, Youth Choir and later the Adult Choir. in 1985, he moved his membership and became a blessing to Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. in 1986, he accepted his call to the ministry, under Pastor Vanzelen G. Brown. Reverend Pratt was a faithful, longtime associate minister at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. His personal joys in life were reading the Word of God, preaching the Word and teaching it, in which he did so very well every week at the Muskogee Nursing Center, Eastgate Nursing Home and in Sunday School.
On Thanksgiving Day, 1985, he married Michelle Karen Turner and together, they had two children, Reverend RoShawn Pratt and Serrone Pratt. The marriage was later dissolved in 1990.
After 47 years, Reverend Roosevelt Pratt moved from Greater Shiloh to "Church Triumphant" on Saturday, December 15, 2007. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father, James Pratt, his son, Serrone PRatt and his sister, Wanda K. Simmons, along with four aunts and one uncle.
He leaves in God's care; his sons, Reverend RoShawn Pratt, of the home and Jonathan Pratt; a daughte,r Angel Nichol Pratt, both of the Pilippines; his mother, Ruby Simmons; a sister, Wanda J. Simmons; a brother, Tyrone Simmons, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; three step-sisters, Ann Burris, California, Katherine Anderson, Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Judy Pratt, Tulsa, Oklahoma; four nephews, Jerome, Nathan, Brandon and Brian; great nieces, nephews, seven uncles, an aunt and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends as well as the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Family.
The Homegoing Celebration for Rev. Pratt will be on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend Vanzelen G. Brown, Senior Pastor, Officiating and Reverend RoShawn Pratt, Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery. You may visit Rev.
