Joseph Kenneth Robinson Jr

Joseph Kenneth Robinson, Jr. (Joe) left this life on Friday February 19, 2016 with his family by his side.

Joe was born on August 2, 1960 in Roswell, NM to Golda Faye Martin and Joseph Kenneth Robinson, Sr. He spent some of his childhood in Roswell then Amarillo, TX, but most of life in Muskogee, OK. He attended Muskogee schools and graduated from Muskogee High School in 1979.

Joe met the love of his life, Diane Steely and they married on April 12, 1985 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Joe made sure it was understood that he came as a “package deal,” which included one Son, Joseph Kenneth Robinson, III. Another son was born of this union, Brett Hugh Robinson, on February 17, 1987.

Joe was presently employed with Georgia Pacific, formerly Fort Howard, and was celebrating his 35th year in September. He was also employed part time as a merchandiser for Crossmark and looked forward to working this job in his retirement. He was taught a strong work ethic by working for his family’s businesses in Curt’s Mall during his high school years. Joe was no-nonsense when it came to his employment. He put nothing less than a hundred percent into everything he did.

Joe enjoyed his family and life to the fullest and always put their needs before his own. He helped coach his son’s sports teams, enjoyed recreational sports with them, such as golf, bowling and snow skiing; they also enjoyed playing cards especially around the Holiday’s He loved football season and watched pro football every Sunday afternoon with his family. Instead of waiting for retirement, Joe enjoyed the “fruits of his labor,” by traveling with his family to destinations in and outside of the U.S.

Joe is survived by his wife, Diane Robinson; sons and daughter-n-law’s, Joey Robinson and Terri, Durant, OK; Brett Robinson and Andrea, Muskogee; Mother, Golda Robinson, Muskogee; Brother, Jett Robinson and wife, Traci, Tulsa; Sisters, Gwen and Renee Robinson, Muskogee; Jim Alday, El Paso,TX, brother-n-law, Alan Steely of Tahlequah. He has three grandchildren, Darrien Robinson, Kadien Robinson and bonus grandson, Connor Locklear, plus many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who he loved dearly. Joe also enjoyed family times with Ron and Eric Roberts. He also thought the world of his co-workers at Georgia Pacific and made life long friends there.

Joe is preceded in death by his Father, Joe Robinson, Sr.; his Father and Mother-n-law H.T. and Margaret Steely, Brother-n-law, Ron Steely all of Tahlequah.

Joe’s death helped the lives of many others through organ donation. He was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service honoring Joe’s life will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Brandan Foutch officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Monte Heppel, Kevin Orange, Ron Jones, Ray Quinton, Wade Cothran, Larry Watts, Paul McDaris, Jason Clark, Gary Tedder, and Don Cash.
