I wrote the following the day I came back from Judy Bates Hill's funeral on April 15, 2015. With the reunion coming up in September of this year (2016), I'm reposting this here as some of you may not know that she died. Here is my Facebook post on Judy's death from that day:

I've just returned from the funeral of my best friend in junior high and high school, Judy Bates Hill. Judy died Saturday from complications of diabetes. Many of my friends on here knew her. She was the happiest person I ever knew and had a smile that could light up the world. We first knew each other at age 5 when we took dancing classes together. She was so much fun to be around. In our high school years, our parents took turns taking us to so many concerts, with the highlight being a Ricky Nelson concert in Tulsa. We fought over who Ricky was looking at when he sang "Poor Little Fool" and chased after him when he left the arena. We didn't catch up with him, of course, but we tried! We always had so much fun together and we were so alike in so many ways. We were both only children, both loved clothes and jewelry, and we loved rock and roll. At her funeral today, the closing music was two spiritual songs by Elvis. She would have liked that. One of her sons told me she talked about me all the time, and that did my heart good, because I certainly talked about her throughout my life. She left this world much too soon, but heaven is a whole lot brighter since Judy Bates Hill entered it. I love you, Judy, and I always will.

Penny: I agree with everything you said about Judy. You were two of a kind.
