Sorry to say that the Mighty Dragons lost to J-Ville last night.
But the band was awesome! They did their UIL program that they are doing at the competition at SFA today and it was the best I've ever seen.
Sorry to those of you who were in the band---but they have taken it to a new level. They hired a consultant to put together this march for them and it was just unreal.
Go Dragon Band!

We're still here, Shawn.
Just all busy I suppose.

I need to update some pages here, but my laptop is in the shop and my desktop is a bit slow.

So I'll aim for next week.

Hope y'all have fun at The Boats.

I suppose we should move our Vegas trip up to Summer 2011 so that will give folks more time to plan for it.

And as Garry pointed out, more of us will turn 55 in 2011.

So let's start planning the Class of 74 takes Vegas, Baby!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! As I am sure many of us are doing, I’ve been reflecting on all the things I have to be thankful for. It’s easy to dwell on the problems we face as we get older, but I have found that contemplating on the good things sure helps get past the aches and pains of every day life. Especially now, with Thanksgiving here, I want to tell each of you how thankful I am for you, for your friendship, for the memories I have that you were a part of in high school, for the joy I felt reuniting with you at our reunion this year. My hope is that we will continue to make memories. I am very thankful that I am a part of the NHS class of ‘74. I don’t think any class in the history of NHS could be as close as we are. It is truly a blessing that, even if we haven’t seen one another in 30 years, we can pick up right where we left off - friends forever. - Pam

Thanks for posting, Pam and Nick!

I am so thankful for the friendships that have been renewed over the past few years.

We are so lucky to have grown up in the time we did.

I don't think we realized it then.

Good luck to Mike Adams--he is on the list for a transplant and it could come any day now!

From today's Tyler Paper:

Restaurant Customers Refuse To Allow Bad Guys To Ruin Christmas For Little Girl
By KENNETH DEAN
Staff Writer

BROWNSBORO — The mean, old Grinch attempted to steal a group of students’ holiday joy, but the mighty spirit of Christmas prevailed when patrons of a local restaurant showed they were in full swing of the holidays.

Matthew Stuckey, Brownsboro Junior High School Student Council sponsor, said members of the student council along with chaperones traveled to Tyler Sunday to purchase gifts for two underprivileged students as they do every year.

“This is an annual thing we do for a male and female student and this year we went to Broadway Square Mall and to Target and purchased the items,” he said.

As part of the experience the students are treated to dinner in Tyler and this year the group chose Chili’s on Loop 323 to feed the hungry lot.

Stuckey said his group had been in the restaurant about 30 minutes when someone parked next to one of the Brownsboro vehicles entered the restaurant with some bad news.

Stuckey said the hearts of the students sank when the man said someone had broken the driver’s side window of one of the vehicles in an apparent auto burglary.

“Our fears were realized when we found all of the kindergarten girl’s clothing items had been stolen,” he said.

Stuckey said Tyler police came to the location to take a report and that is when the magic of Christmas began to sparkle.

“While we were out there, patrons of Chili’s began asking what was happening and the kids told how they had been shopping for two of our students and someone had stolen all of the girl’s presents,” he said.

Stuckey said what happened next was a great lesson for the students.

“People just started giving us donations a dollar or two at a time. Before we knew it we had $100, which allowed us to repurchase everything that had been stolen,” he said.

Stuckey said the experience was incredible to be a part of and he thanked all of those who donated.

“Our kids got to see that even though bad things happen there are still a lot of good people out there in the world,” he said.

Yes Jan, Joey is more than ready for our class to gather in Vegas and I will finally get to see all the class which most I have not seen since the 10th reunion, just a short while back. :) The 50's are the best times of our lives so whenever the class decides to descend on Vegas where everything stays in Vegas, we will celebrate the big 55 milestone in style unlike anywhere else. To thank Jan and the organizational crew, I want to help make this one unforgettable-one for the ages. 55 and lovin' life...

Early Sunday morning ...

It’s cold. 18 degrees. The ground is covered with frost. The sun is rising and will soon hide the moon that’s still shining overhead. It’s a beautiful morning. I just came in from breaking the ice in my horses’ water trough. They appreciated it. I felt and probably looked like the Pillsbury dough boy - 2 pair of sweat pants (couldn’t get my jeans over the 1st pair), sweat shirt, hoodie, down jacket, gloves, boots. If I learned anything living in Alaska it was the importance of layers! My dogs went with me. They made a quick run through the pasture, trailing the deer or coyote that must have traveled through during the night. Now they’re curled up on their beds by the wood heater. There’s just nothing like the smell and crackling of burning oak to make you feel all warm and cozy. The cats are laying in the sun on the front porch - mother and daughter. They are so different - mother is quiet and loving; daughter is wild and frisky. They fuss and squabble but are each other’s constant companion. Not much different than their human counterparts. The frost is slowly disappearing. The mud puddles are thawing out. My water pipes are frozen. Hopefully none will be broken. But I’m not worrying about that now. It’s a beautiful morning.

As the new year began, our youngest, Taylor, was working out at the local Michael Johnson training facility to get in shape for Spring football. He asked me if one of his Baylor teammates, who was also working out at MJ, could stay with us for a while until they had to report back to BU. We were thrilled to find out that it was a Nacogdoches High grad, Logan Lanier..We loved having him with us for a while and certainly enjoyed watching football together and talking lots about Doches and how great it is to be a NHS grad..How I laughed when he told me that one of his coaches was Clarence McMichael and one of his teammates was Tommy McAnich's son...Such a small world. We both agreed that Nacogdoches is still a hometown to be proud of !! This generation of young athletes with NHS ties are representing well as Taylor and Logan were 2 of only about a dozen Baylor football players receiving post season team awards..If any of you know the Lanier family, please let them know what a great son they have !!! May this year be the best ever for every member of our '74 class..Susan
