Thank God I wasn't a Dragon. I couldn't jog my way out of a paper bag these days.

Be sure to cast your vote for Ron Raines (NHS 68) as "Best Villain" !
You do not have to sign up on the site. Show your support for our favorite actor!

Thanks Jan!

Please do take a minute and vote for Ron Raines as the Best Villain. It looks like 'Guiding Light' is coming to a close this year and Ron has been on the show for 15 years! The only soap I keep up with...

For those of you that don't know--Ronnie is my brother-in-law's brother, Kent Raines, married to my beautiful sis Nancy Johnson Raines (both class of '72). Both fabulous men just like their dad, the late and great Judge Raines!

Awesome old pix posted by Joey and a new one from Carol.

I just emailed everyone but wanted to post here also that our classmate and Nick's cousin Ricky Mosby is in the hospital in Houston with pneumonia and on a ventilator.

Please send up prayers for Ricky.

Hello Everyone!

We had a wonderful time at Nick's Saturday, with some awesome food. Carol was there collecting recipes for the NHS 74 Recipe website. Please send Carol your recipes, along with a story behind the recipe! Cris has one about her lasagne that is very funny. We will link to Carol's site as soon as she gets it up and running. You can email Carol by going to Classmate Profiles on this site, clicking on Carol's name, and then scrolling to the bottom of her profile page.

Carol has also agreed to be an admin for our class site, along with Judy. This brings our number of admins up to 4.

As most of you know, Ricky Mosby could not attend on Saturday. He is in the hospital in Houston in critical condition. He apparently had heart trouble a few years ago and had a valve replacement. He has pneunomia presently, which also required him to go on a respirator. Prayers are going up for Ricky's healing and for strength for his wife Loretta.

Judy has also graciously volunteered to oversee our Silent Auction. I've seen these at many reunions I have attended, and they've been very successful in bringing in extra cash to keep in the class fund, as well as provide funds for the class to donate to the NHSAA. Please think about any items you can donate and let Judy or me know what the item is and what you consider a good minimum bid. Judy is so organized that she plans to have the bid sheets all typed beforehand, even putting the incremental bid amounts on them! You can bring items for the auction to the reunion, just let Judy or me know what they are by June 15 so she can complete the early paperwork and things will go smoothly. We will post the list on the class site as it is finalized.

The Silent Auction will be held Saturday night only, from 6 PM to 9:45 PM, with the winning bids announced before the band plays at 10 PM. We can use some volunteers to help us collect the bid sheets and to collect the money. I have Lisa Steed, Susan Wakefield, Fern Simmons, Lisa Bodrie, Debbie Beall, Brenda Gossage, Karen Benton, Cal, and me so far. Please let me know if you can help us out!

Joey has announced that she is donating a 3 night stay at one of the Diamond resorts in Vegas. This is going to be a prize rather than an auction item, announced after the band plays. We will have other door prizes that you will register for as you arrive on Saturday night. And don't duck out early--you must be present to win the door prizes!

Several have agreed to supply centerpieces and these will be judged and prizes given for them also. If the contributor agrees, they will also be part of the Silent Auction. So far, Lisa S, Cris, Rose, Cindy, and Jan have volunteered for this. We need more!

The Happy Hour at the Hotel will be on Friday from 5 to 7. We have 6th floor rooms at the Hotel as well as Cabana rooms with an NHS 74 rate. We also have rooms blocked at the Hampton Inn, the LaQuinta Inn, and the Holiday Inn Express on South St. Please make your reservations today and let me know if you have any problems. We have special rates at all these hotels, starting at $90 per night.

Pictures for the slideshow are coming in and I'm so excited to get them. Please dig out your old albums and send me your pix. Some of you have come up with some gems. The slideshow will be played while we eat dinner.

We aren't going to have a long, formal program this time. Just a prayer before we eat, a recognition of our teachers who are in attendance, and a special football presentation for our coaches. Players, be sure you sign the 2 footballs sometime on Friday or Saturday. And be sure and get your football stories emailed to me and Cal to put on the coach's clipboards!

We will have a formal group picture after we eat, along with group pictures of other classes who are in attendance, then one picture of everyone in attendance. We'll try to get these done as quickly as possible.

I think that's about it for now. If you have any questions, shoot me an email and I'll get the answer for you.

This past weekend marked a year since we lost Clara. I think about her often. I must admit it was hard to move her pictures to the Tribute section in our slideshow and I honestly kept forgetting to move Charles'. It just doesn't seem possible that they are gone.

Let's make this a grand reunion in their honor and in memory of all the others who aren't with us!

Have a great week.

I need the details about the center pieces again. Maybe I can come up with some thing.

04/24/09 09:35 AM #162

Debra Jan Dobbs (Barton)

Awesome pix, Cynthia! I am stealing some for the slideshow!

For the tables, we are doing Texas themed--denim, boots, raffia. Using blue, red, yellow--Texas wildflowers type theme.

Fresh, silk, or wild--matters not to us!

Also, loved your decorated cakes. I've always wanted to learn how to do that.

I was on the other page! I guess I will look at both places next time. Count on me for one center piece.

04/26/09 05:45 PM #164

Debra Jan Dobbs (Barton)

Thanks, Cynthia! Can't wait to see all the centerpieces!

We have so many joining our site on a daily basis now that I'll just say Welcome to All!!!

Hope you can all make it to our reunion in June!

I have added some links on the 35 Year Reunion page for the Hotel, for Banita Creek, and for our auction/door prize items.

Check it out!

My cousin Ben Spies won another World Superbike race in Italy this past Sunday. His dad is Henry Spies, NHS Class of 1969, who lives in Nac, but was with Ben in Italy last week for the races. He won three consecutive AMA Superbike championships riding for the factory Suzuki team before going to WSBK this year. The 24-year-old tall Texan has created quite a fan base in Europe, where racing is much more popular than here in the US. The race track in Italy had to hire extra security for Ben just to get around to where he had to be. The girls have gone wild, and Ben is really flustered by the attention. You will see why if you check youtube or see pictures at www.benspies.com or worldsbk.com. I put some pix on my profile page.

Okay, I should have added my message about my cousin Ben Spies to the "Bragging" forum.

Now that I am here, Ben's next race is in Kyalami, South Africa. He is currently ranked 2nd in World Superbike. Considering this is his first year out of the USA, and he has never seen most of these tracks, he is doing exceptionally well.

See him race on the Speed Channel. I tried to add youtube clips, but failed. Don't know how to make a frowning smiley face either.

Susan, if you'll point me to the youtube clips, I'll see if I can upload them. They may be too large for the site.

Good Morning All!

Ronnie Raines (NHS 68 and Joey's sister's brother-in-law) will be performing in a tribute to Jerry Herman (Mame, Hello Dolly, Milk & Honey), during the 2009 Tony Awards in New York on June 7th. CBS will be airing the Awards this year!

He also graciously sent some items for our silent auction.

One is a priceless signed script for The Guiding Light!

Send in your reunion reservations and $$$ today! Also, don't forget to call the hotel of your choice and make your reservations. Our room blocks expire this week!

See y'all next month and don't forget to tune in to the Tony's to see Ronnie.

Congrats to the 2009 grads of NHS. See the story on the Home Page.
Our record for being the only class to graduate at Dragon Stadium still holds!!

Hey everone! Sorry I have been away so long. Just been terribly busy. Gosh, the reunion is here and there is just no time for dieting or getting in shape. Oh well, guess I'll have to come as myself.

Can't wait to see you guys.
