Kenny Martin

I went to TSTC in Waco and graduated with a Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Technology in 1977. I got married to my high school sweet heart Sondra Grogan one week later. At the same time I went to work for Tipton Ford for 7 years as a Tech and Shop Foreman. I got my Bachelor Degree in General Business 1981 during this time. Later I went to work for Jim Frink Pontiac/Buick which became Greg James Pontiac / Buick / Jeep for 18 years as a service manager, shop foreman, electrical tech, etc. In the beginning of the year 2000 Y2K I started teaching Automotive Technology at good old NHS. This is something I said I would never do is teach. I also started into the rental business by buying apartments and houses for my second job. In 2018 I retired teaching at NHS 18 years and now I still have the rental business going and do a lot of hunting, fishing, and traveling with Sondra.

There are many memories but some just come back to mind. As a freshman I walked, caught rides, and finally drove my on car to Little Italy Pizza, Uncle Doc's Hamburgers, Hotel Fredonia, M & S Pharmacy soda fountain, and others. We all communicated by CB radio. My handle was the Grease Monkey. I remember jacking up Paul Hunter's pick up truck and putting it on bricks at the center of the axle and covered the tires with leaves so it looked on the ground. We watched as he jumped in the truck and gassed the engine with the wheels spinning in place and he was going no where. The band trips on the bus to the foot ball games and Mr. Lilly. The Ag shop and all the things we built and destroyed. The Senior graduation party out at Taylor Millard's farm house. There is much more but I got to go. Looking forward to see the old friends there.
