There was only one Bill Grigsby.

I've known him since the 7th Grade, although, as with a number of others, we lost contact for many years until reuniting at (where else?) a H.S. Reunion.  He was still "The Whip" (whatever that meant), the same self-described "wild child", full of energy, good humor and a first-rate raconteur who was always fun to be with.  We shared a few escapades back in the day, as being around him always seemed to result in memorable adventures.  Bill was very intelligent and as an adult had a successful career.  He had an active, inquiring mind and was a true student of American war history - especially the Civil War.  We had a close relationship on the Ridgeview football team (think quarterback and center in the old T-formation) and is the only person I know of who once attended all 3 Junior Highs during the same school year.  He founded the only "fraternity" at Napa High which, though not formally recognized by the powers that be, was named Tappa Nu Keg.  Anyone who spent much time with him has stories to tell.

We kept in close touch in recent years and I'm so very happy that I was able to visit & spend time with him & his wife Wanda not so long ago at their home in Chillicothe, Ohio.  Bill's passing is a very sad event for me and many others and marks the end of a unique chapter in the history of the Class of 1964.
