Richard Leroy Lenz

1946-2011

Richard Leroy Lenz passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, in Redding. He was 65.

Richard was born March 30, 1946, in Napa in the old Parks Victory Hospital. He graduated Napa High in 1964. He served a four-year machinist apprenticeship, during which he married Melinda Ades on May 12, 1967. When he finished his apprenticeship, the couple moved to Hayward, where Richard worked for Anchor Valve Co. 

Three years later, the couple moved to Redding. Richard received an AA degree as a machinist from Shasta College in 1975. He worked as a Machinist at Vorwood Wood Products, Kimberly Clark, Roseburg Forest Products and Seco Manufacturing. He loved wood working, working with metal, fishing and camping. His son, Jeremiah, came along in 1977. He liked to take him camping .

Richard is survived by his wife, Melinda of Redding; son, Jeremiah (Caitlin) of Anderson, Calif.; grandsons, Brayden and Gabriel Ovian-lenz, and Jose Garcia of Shasta Lake City, Calif.; mother, Alice, of Napa; brother, Edward (Marlene), of Napa; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
