Ken was part of our little childhood gang up in the Vichy Springs area. He was a member of our cub scout pack and fly league baseball team. Fond memories for sure. But I lost track of Ken by the time we went to Silverado.
As some of you know, I have been writing a collection of memoirs, some about my childhood and youth in Napa, others about later periods. The collection is just about done and I hope to publish it in the coming year. One essay is about our cub scout pack and how the Vietnam war impacted many of us. If anyone knows some of the details of both Ken's service in Vietnam and his life after he returned, I would love to chat with you. I may be able to include Ken in that one memoir, assuming I can make that addition soon.
Ken and his family lived across the creek from us on Hedgeside Avenue. I recall many of our childhood adventures building treehouses, underground and Blackberry fort's. Ken had a knack for injury's, falling out of trees, running into obstacles, a couple of broken arms. I lost contact with him after junior high but have many fond memories. Rest In Peace Kenny Martin
