RICHARD SIRE OBITUARY
Sept. 19, 1946 - Oct. 5, 2022
Richard peacefully passed away on October 5th, surrounded by members of his loving family. He was seventy-six.
Richard was born in San Francisco, but spent most of his early years in San Bruno. In 1963 his family moved to Napa and he graduated from Napa High School in 1964.
Church and music was always a huge part of Richard's life. He was gifted with a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a member of the St. Thomas' junior choir in San Bruno, St. John's Lutheran choir in Napa and St. Luke's Lutheran choir in Reno. Richard was also an accomplished musician and played trumpet in both Capuchino HS band and Napa HS band. One of his favorite memories was being a member of the Capuchino HS band chosen to march in President Kennedy's 1961 inaugural parade. Richard loved playing his trumpet and enjoyed being part of a local Napa band that performed for different business establishments and special events in the area.
In 1967 he enlisted in the Air Force and was assigned to SAC at Vandenberg AFB as a missile instrumentation technician. Richard received many awards and commendations while stationed at Vandenberg. He was particularly proud of being the special sergeant in charge of installation of the Combat Training Launch Instrumentation. After serving 6 ½ years in the Air Force, he was honorably discharged and returned to Napa to further his education in accounting.
He received his degree in Accounting and his MBA in taxation from Golden Gate University. After working for and partnering with other CPAs he opened his own business and remained active until he retired in 2016.
Family was also very important to Richard. He had very fond memories as a boy spending summers in Minnesota working on his uncles' farms and being with his family there. He was very proud of both his sons and enjoyed being with them. He loved family camping trips, watching 49er games and being with family at the ball park to watch the Giants play. He especially loved being with his grandchildren. All of them brought him joy in different ways, but each equally easy to love.
Richard is predeceased by his father; Ernest Sire, his mother; Ruth Sire, and grandson Jeffrey G Sire. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Marleia, son: Richard A (Cheryl), Jeffrey M (Glenna), grandchildren: Lain, Kate, Evan, great-granddaughter: Haylee, sister: Mary Sire, brother: Ernest Sire and many nieces & nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 29th 2pm at St. Luke's Lutheran Church 3835 Lakeside Drive, Reno, NV

I don't remember seeing this before & it stunned me. In the High School band and orchestra we had an incredibly talented group of trumpet players, both in terms of quantity and quality. Richard was one of them and boy, could he play. I was heartened to see that he kept music as a part of his life and that he had a happy and successful time on earth. I have many memories of Richard & our time together during band activities.
