Paul Buddy Newman (1946 to 2012)

Buddy passed away December 4,2012 after battling a lenghty illness.

Buddy was known for his huge heart.  All those who knew Buddy would be able to share stories of his selfessness, time and time again.

Buddy graduated from Napa High School.  After graduation, he joined the Air Force.  This led to lasting friendships he cherished throughout his life.  Upon returning home, Buddy married the love of his life, Jeanne Marie Stoddard.

Their marriage was filled with love and laughter.  The affectionate names they called each other proved this fact.  They knew each other their entire lives, as their parents were friends.  Buddy and Jeanne made a happy and loving home for their boys as well as any family or friends in need.

Buddy loved fishing, which he passed on to Gary.  He could be heard on the air waves with his C.B. equipment.

He was a truck driver for Calistoga for 30 plus years, making friends along his routes.

After the passing of his son, Mike in Mary of 1996, and his wife, Jeanne in May 2002, a piece of his heart was lost.  The joy that was brought to him through his grandchildren became priceless.  He was always wanting to know what sport or school event was coming up so he could attend.  He was able to smile, laugh, and love all three of them as they grew and thrived.

Buddy is survived by his son, Gary (Melissa) Newman; grandchildren, Hannah, Dylan and Jake Newman; sisters, Sherie Roe and Linda (Ron) Ward; and numerous nieces, nephew and close friends.

Services were held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 2:30pm at the Napa Valley Memorial Park.  Memorial donations to a local charity was suggested.

I was so saddened to hear of Buddy's passing. I can hardly believe it. He and I were great friends...he and his sister's and I, would listen to his new stereo with ear phones, at his home on Main St. We loved The Rolling Stones, "Under My Thumb." His Mom and Dad were so good to me. Buddy was helpful and loved going to Napa High, anf had many friends!

Buddy took me to the Napa senior prom...1965, what a great time we had. Dinner in Berkeley, at The Clairmont, then back to Napa at Kennedy Hall, at Silverado Junior High for the prom festivities.

I will never forget Buddy...and, how many girls can say they went to the Sr. Prom with Paul Newman! :D

I love and miss you my dear friend...

Mary
