MICHAEL EDWARD O'BRIEN
June 19, 1946-July 23, 1994
Michael was born in Vallejo, CA to Helen Elizabeth (Reynolds) O'Brien and Jack Mulanax. He was raised in Lake Tahoe, Rancho Del Mar and Napa, graduating from Napa High in 1965. Michael enjoyed being the lead singer with a hootenanny group called The Napa Valley Singers while in high school. The group of 3 won first place in the Calaveras Angel Camp Frog Jumping Hootenanny contest in 1964. Later in life he sang with a group in Napa called Your Mama.
He joined the Navy in January 1966 and was discharged in September of 1971. While in the service he completed Dental Technician school prior to being stationed in Guam; and Field Medical Service School prior to joining the First Marine Battalion in Viet Nam. He was awarded the: National Defense Service Metal with the FMF Combat insignia, Bronze Star, Republic of Viet Nam Campaign metal with device, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry ribbon with palm.
Michael married Linda Reaksecker in 1966 and happily welcomed their son, Timothy Daniel, in 1972. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1991. Michael is survived by his son, Timothy Daniel O'Brien; his neice, Eden Brenner; and his nephew, Aaron O'Brien. He was preceeded in death by his mother, Helen; his grandmother, Leila Buesing; his brother, Patrick O'Brien, and his step-father, Jack Anglin.
