Greg died in a freak accident in 1981, the day after writing the last installment of a television series on the Myths of Man, a project he had worked on with Joseph Campbell. The entire project was the result of Greg's initiative. He would visit me in NYC at the time and describe his progress with Campbell, who was at first adverse to the idea. Greg wanted to bring the Hero with a 1,000 Faces to the public at large. The series was completed after his death and carries a dedication to him in the film credits. Pictured above are Greg in 1969 and 1968 with Dennis Meehan (died July 25, 2011) and Phil Wharton (died Feb. 14, 2015).
Greg was a good friend of mine throughout the school process from elementary through high school. I think of him often, even to this day. This accident was one of those things which just didn't make sense. R.I.P. Greg, your memory lives.
