Ronald Wayne Van Cleve, 53, passed away Sunday at Queen of the Valley Hospital. He was born in Kimball, Neb., to Rex and Lavonne Van Cleve on Aug. 18, 1947. Ron lived in Kimball, Neb., before coming to Napa when he was 7 years old.Ron graduated from Napa High School and worked for Vallerga's Markets for 34 years in the produce department, retiring two years ago. He enjoyed boating, skiing, fishing and camping.Ron is survived by his daughter, Veronica Sisco of Washington, Rhonda Van Cleve-Phillipe of Rocklin and one son, Robert Van Cleve of Oregon; two step-daughters, Debbie Martini of Napa and Kim Lesiewski of Napa; a sister, Carol St. Clair of Washington; his mother, Lavonne Van Cleve of Napa; three grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren. His father, Rex Van Cleve preceded him in death last year.Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday at Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail in Napa with Rev. Virginia Pearson officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1031 Jefferson St., Napa, Calif. 94559 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
I graduated with Ron and during high school we were good friends. I recall attending an autopsy at Richard Pierce funeral home. Needless to say I was very shocked when I saw a drawer with Ron Van Cleve's name on it. R.I.P. Ron.
