At age 18, Danny Wayne was the best car mechanic I knew. Danny died in 1976 at age 26. Motorcycle accident. He was a goofy fun loving guy. Lots of laughs during our school years. Napa Junction School. Ridgeview. Napa High. I recall one day with Danny, probably 1966. White coveralls, laying on his back in the lube bay of his Dad's gas station. Cigarette hanging from his mouth, under my 1962 Chevy, welding up Cherry Bomb Glass Packs using a torch and coat hanger for a welding rod. Those were the days!

Thanks for sharing. I don't remember Danny but sure remember the good times back then. What service station did Danny's dad own?

What a nice memory Jack. We grew up in a very wonderful time in History for sure.  Thank you for bringing back some of those memories.  It was a wonderful visual of our teen years!

I don't know if I met Danny, but the story that Jack told was typical of the 60's car mechanic. There was a hangout at A&W Rootbeer near third street and we would go to Chic's Burgers across from the highschool. 1957 Fords and Chevys would be in the highschool parking lot. There were so many people like Danny that I would have liked to meet, plus the ones that I did know.
